Here’s one. It’s a pretty forgiving recipe though, if you want to change the proportions. If you do a search, you’ll find variations on this recipe. https://www.thediaryofarealhousewife.com/sausage-cream-cheese-dip/ |
Have you had this lately? Did it live up to your expectations? I used to love boxed au gratin potatoes, but every time I'm tempted to buy a box, I worry that it will disappoint me. |
No, not in several years, but I did buy my annual port wine cheeseball. |
Are you old enough to have watched Laverne & Shirley? Shirley was always craving a "milk and Pepsi." It's a thing; almost like a float if the ice cream has melted. I had it occasionally growing up since y mother liked it. But we had it with milk, not half and half. Half and half sounds more decadent, lol. |
My college-aged daughter went to her roommate's house for Thanksgiving. She texted this to me from the bathroom during dinner--"Their cranberry sauce is in a bowl and you use a spoon to scoop it out and it has actual cranberries and orange peels in it. Who eats cranberry sauce that isn't in a can shape?" She was also shocked that they served dinner rolls in a basket with a cloth over it "like a movie or something." No crescent rolls or biscuits from a can to be seen. |
That would be Laverne
I think I tried it as a kid too. |

Loco Moco Fellow kama’aina will know what I mean. |
I had quite a shock when I moved to California - even four year olds are foodies here, eating sushi and requesting brussel sprouts. Nobody here uses the canned cranberry sauce I grew up with - everyone buys cranberries and melts them in a pot. I've converted, I confess. Higher quality foods, with fewer chemicals is awesome. A couple of times I try out my old East Coast faves, and am certain I can taste the chemicals (looking at you Carvel ice cream cake and Celentano ravioli). |
Delish! THANK YOU PP! I could have used my old friend google but wanted to get your specific recipe! |
You can make your own version of onion dip with slightly more salt control by using dried minced onion, Better’n Bouillon and sour cream. I will die on the hill that this is better than Lipton. (So long as you give it overnight to meld) |
| The color of that sausage dip reminded me that my aunt used to have this “nacho” cheese dip at parties. It was a powdered cheese dip and I don’t know how it would taste (if it even exists anymore; I think like powdered frosting packets, it’s gone) but I loved that stuff so much as child. |

This reads like a flex but is actually pretty sad. She's in college and hasn't seen cranberry sauce outside of a can or been somewhere where they serve bread with a napkin over it?! Not sure why thus reads like a brag, that's kind of depressing you could be that underexposed. |

Oh wow, how original. A California adoptee acting all superior about food. Get a better schtick and stop ruining a great thread. Either contribute in a good, non-judgmental way or LEAVE. Nobody cares. California, wowwwww. |
