My college-aged daughter went to her roommate's house for Thanksgiving. She texted this to me from the bathroom during dinner--"Their cranberry sauce is in a bowl and you use a spoon to scoop it out and it has actual cranberries and orange peels in it. Who eats cranberry sauce that isn't in a can shape?"

She was also shocked that they served dinner rolls in a basket with a cloth over it "like a movie or something." No crescent rolls or biscuits from a can to be seen. [/quote]

I had quite a shock when I moved to California - even four year olds are foodies here, eating sushi and requesting brussel sprouts. Nobody here uses the canned cranberry sauce I grew up with - everyone buys cranberries and melts them in a pot. I've converted, I confess. Higher quality foods, with fewer chemicals is awesome. A couple of times I try out my old East Coast faves, and am certain I can taste the chemicals (looking at you Carvel ice cream cake and Celentano ravioli).[/quote]
