Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas headed to divorce

I bet you $100 it was her coming home at 3am from a party or something equally as innocuous. He's not taking the high road. If she was cheating or something actually bad he would be running his mouth about it.

I think he is being quite dramatic about it. I think if she had cheated, though, that would be included in the narrative being fed from "anonymous insiders." The absentee party girl is already failing to stick. The Ring camera bombshell probably involved her expressing a desire to live in the UK or something.

I don't think she cheated or did anything else that would normally prompt a divorce.

Not wanting to have another baby or hoping to get back to work are not punishable offenses. Whatever it was, they had a lifetime to work it out. He discarded her because she didn't fit the mold.

I pray she doesn't lose either her children or livelihood opportunities in this disaster.

Agree with all of this, Team Sophie!

Why don’t they do fun stuff together and not get divorced? He sounds like a downer who can’t have fun. She sounds like a crazed party girl. But jeeez just find the happy medium for both. Ya know like a marriage?!

Have you seen their TikTok accounts? Probably not because you're probably more normal than I am, but I have seen them, and let me tell you they seemed like a really, really fun couple. Of course that was curated but they did a lot of fun stuff together.

I’m PP. In retrospect my post above wasn’t fair to her because he is the one saying that she’s a partier. Even if she is going out, she’s 27!! Who wouldn’t want to go out at 27?! I don’t have TikTok. But he sounds like a drag. If he is fun then he is doing a smear campaign on her.

DP. Obviously I don't know them (I haven't even seen their TikToks, lol). But based just on what I do know, this really seems like a situation where a guy married a gorgeous, talented, successful, young, fun woman, and then tried to put her in a nice confined box so only he could enjoy her. The timing of their marital problems, rumors he wanted more kids even though she clearly doesn't (and is soooo young -- there is no reason for them to have another kid right now when she could definitely have a kid in 6 or 7 years if they decided they wanted more), and then the extremely biased press leaks about her being a partier and painting him as a dutiful father and primary parent when she was home with the kids for actual years before filming this show in the UK. The whole think makes me feel icky. He seems very controlling and scared of Sophie having freedom or independence.

This is how I feel about Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds, except it seems to be working (so far, anyway).

Oh I don't get this vibe from Blake and Ryan at all. It feels like she kind of runs that relationship more than he does, and I think a lot of their choices (including all their kids and where they choose to live) were driven by her vision for their family. He works more than she does, but she does some very high profile stuff and he is always suuuuuper supportive in a very visible way on it, like when she co-chaired the Met Ball. She also developed her own product via his beverage company and she's been very forward about promoting it and he seems supportive. I don't get that "please just stay home and be quiet and pop out more babies for me" vibe from him the way I very much do from Joe Jonas.

Reynolds and Lively have the similar star status. Jonas is some boy band guy that only certain people know. Turner is a far better known star than he is. I don’t get the sense Lively or Reynolds married down. You do with Turner, she married down.

I was going to say this -- I think being married to Ryan Reynolds adds to Blake's star status. They are this super A-list gorgeous match. And now a beautiful family too.

Joe Jonas - can't imagine what if anything he would do for Sophie's career.

He’s worth $50 million. She’s worth $10 million.

But he’s a hobbit. She is more famous. I don’t know who the Jonas brothers are aside from some dumb boy band. She could do better than Mr Bilbao.

Agree. Other than "Sucker" I can't even name another song.

Cake by the Ocean was EVERYWHERE a few years ago.

That song is not by the Jonas Brothers. It's by a band called DNCE

Not that this has any relevance to their divorce, but DNCE is Joe Jonas’ band when he works solo and not with his brothers.

Disagree. He went straight to filing and initially response was very ugly.

There was another dude with her.

DP. BS. He would’ve just said so. He basically already called her a deadbeat mom saying she brought a dude home is nothing compared to that. Plus she knows the camera is there she’s not going to bring a dude home on camera. Now would she have maybe made a rude comment in front of the camera probably.

Based on the two facts that 1) the ring camera was the event that made him file and 2) he won't reveal what was on camera, I'm guessing that she was complaining about his ability to please

And he’s doing group hugs at concerts and trotting the kids out in front of the paps. Father of the year….

Maybe Sophie said something about her MIL/in-laws and JJ flipped out. I can see him taking his mother’s side over his wife’s

How on earth do you know she is not enjoying motherhood?

Framing is everything on this, and you have to think about why these gossip rags frame the story a certain way (hint: it's because the leak is from a particular party, and that party will only give them the scoop if the frame it in a favorable way, it is a PR game).

Example: several outlets have reported that Joe has had the kids "on his own" for the last few months while Sophie has been filming "Joan" in the UK. But setting aside the fact that no rich celebrity ever has kids "on their own" (they have a cadre of hired help), this is not remotely true. Joe spent several months this summer IN THE UK with the kids, staying with/near Sophie's family.

This is reported as Joe's last-ditch effort to save the marriage, like this proves some extensive commitment to Sophie and the marriage. But... does it? Sophie is an actor who got a role filming on location in the UK, where she is from and has tons of family. Joe is a musician with quite a bit of flexibility in when and where he works (sure, less flexibility with touring locations, but lots of flexibility with where and when he writes and records). Sophie has not worked in several years because she has been pregnant and home with the kids.

So it is really above and beyond for Joe to (1) serve as primary parent while Sophie films, or (2) for him to bring the kids to the UK where she is and spend time there with her and her family?

No. That's a normal, sort of bare minimum thing to do in a marriage like this. As an actor, Sophie has to go where the filming is, where there is a role available for her and where she is cast. If they were really a partnership, Joe coming to the UK for a couple months and being primary parent while she films (again, for a few months, it's not like this show is a 5 yr commitment) would not be considered some huge sacrifice on his part.

All the leaks are coming from Joe and they are framing it like Sophie is an absent mom because she took ONE job and Joe had to spend a few months as primary parent and spend a little time in the UK with Sophie and her family. That's incredibly sketchy and manipulative.

Sophie could EASILY be leaking stuff about her experience at home with the kids the last couple years, about the appropriateness of Joe taking the kid's on tour (and choosing to tour now while she is working, after she just took a long hiatus of rate kids) and putting them in front of cameras, etc. She's said nothing.

She is a class act who is acting in ways to protect her kids and their relationship. He is being an absolute toad trying to trash his kids' mother in the press in order to "win" a divorce that, it appears, he is demanding simply because Sophie's entire life doesn't revolve around his.

Team Sophie, all the way. Also she is more talented than he is.

The ring camera thing is extremely sketchy to me. Why is Joe watching ring camera footage of his own wife? Especially if the issue is something she SAID on camera, because then not only did he just happen to see something on footage (maybe he got an alert that someone had arrived home and there was video of her coming home), but he was making the effort to eavesdrop on his own wife when she was probably unaware she was being recorded.

Sketchy AF.

Yes this!

And that they are so young - could even have another baby in 5-10+ years. It's normal and not crazy for her to take a break from that and to want to get back to her career!

But divorce is adding another bad choice to string of bad choices of getting married to an older foreigner, leaving your life to move to his home country, immediately having a baby and then soon having another baby.

They probably have several nannies and other staff to take fare of life, house and children so motherhood or fatherhood can't be a big burden.
