Bigots are increasingly emboldened by the right.

I have empathy and compassion for the transgender kids. I also have empathy and compassion for girls in girls' sports and bathrooms.

Maybe within your own frame--probably "those poor lost souls" rather than "people with knowledge of themselves."

Please justify trans girls in girls' sports. It makes no sense. But, you call people against it "bigots."

1) I didn't call anyone a bigot--I was responding to the pp.
2) They said "I have empathy and compassion" and I was responding to that.

What literally is the percentage of trans girls in girls' sports? Out of all the girls playing, what percentage are trans girls? I would guess less than 1/10th of 1%. Is it really worth making this big of a deal about?

Yes, as they may be in the locker room with biological girls.

So you are freaking out because out of the less than 1/10 of 1% there maybe, just maybe could possibly be one that goes into a locker room at some point--likely changing in a private bathroom stall like most of the other kids do. I can pretty much assure you that even in the 1/10000th chance that happens, the kid isn't going to be getting naked in front of other kids. I don't think my kids have fully changed/showered in front of any peers/or had anyone change in front of them despite 10 years of playing three different sports including swimming-- and they are not transgender--it just isn't the norm any more.
I wonder how you will react when your kid goes to college where there are co-ed communal bathrooms.

I just think there are so many far, far more important things to be spending time/energy on.

Colleges have single sex bathrooms.. what college did you go to that didn’t?!

There was a “coed” bathroom in my dorm in the late 90s. These days, there are mixed gender dorm rooms.

So, what is the big deal, then, about Youngkin's policy?

DP. Youngkin wants to “out” kids to their parents without their consent.

And, FCPS wants to keep secrets from parents.

Outing a kid against their will can be devastating.

Encouraging kids to change gender without their parents knowing is also devastating. Some might even call it "grooming."

Because it a) is focusing on marginalizing further a vulnerable policy under the guise of "reasonableness," b) it makes parents who have kids who are questioning their gender identity and wanting to transition socially put that into formal documents even if they won't end up being transgender long-term. It basically puts them in a "forced choice" category rather than a flexible one.

UVA

So you are not a parent and are just a brand new, current college student.

That explains a lot of these posts.

No, I went to UVA in the 1990s. They had co-ed bathrooms in dorms back then. I have 3 kids: MS, HS, and college-aged kids. You're just very out of touch.

The way I interpret The 2023 Model Policies is similar to being pregnant: You are either pregnant, or you are not. There is not such a thing as being half-pregnant.

Once you confirm you are pregnant, you get all the benefits and perks that come with it. Some are protected by the law, others by society: Prenatal care; maternity leave; people just “love your pregnant belly”; etc., etc.

As established by Federal, state, and county law, PARENTS are the only ones who can change a minor’s identity (legal name). Once the identity is officially changed, then that transgender student can benefit of any protections under the law. Until that happens, a transgender student is like a half pregnant woman hoping to get Prenatal care, maternity leave, etc.

Contrary to your assertion, The 2023 Model Policies do contain provisions to protect transgender students, the same way specific maternity laws protect a pregnant woman, as opposed to a woman who is not pregnant. Please read the entire document to better understand its true meaning and intent.

Tell that to the swimmers that have to swim with Lia Thomas. If my daughter worked really hard at sport and a dude came along and started beating all the girls then it is a big deal. I keep seeing these 6ft+ 200lb+ dudes with beards dressed as women. It's pathetic. They don't look like women at all. I can see if it's a little dude that is feminine, but the big dudes that can overtake and overpower women that dress as women and want access to woman only spaces, that's just some messed up stuff and risky. We must protect real women and not the very big bearded man in a sundress.

You KEEP seeing 6ft 200 lbs dudes with beards dressed as women? I doubt that. You’ve seen different people fitting that description on the streets of DC and suburbia?

Maybe PP is seeing that on FoxNews.

No PP does not even watch that network. PP has seen multiple big men with beards wearing dresses and acting like women in the past few months in various places. Some were on a college campus, one while out at a restaurant, and a couple of them just walking down the street while out in the city. Big burly men with beards! In dresses! These men want to use changing room and bathroom with girls! They were also all white males. It's an epidemic!

No one in the school system is encouraging children to change their gender. That's absurd.

+1

Bigots are increasingly emboldened by the right.

I have empathy and compassion for the transgender kids. I also have empathy and compassion for girls in girls' sports and bathrooms.

Maybe within your own frame--probably "those poor lost souls" rather than "people with knowledge of themselves."

Please justify trans girls in girls' sports. It makes no sense. But, you call people against it "bigots."

1) I didn't call anyone a bigot--I was responding to the pp.
2) They said "I have empathy and compassion" and I was responding to that.

“Encouraging”

The only people calling it “grooming” are ignorant bigots.

This describes it best:

Thanks for sharing. Expert gaslighters. These "centers" have a vested and monetary interest in pushing transition.

So, what is the big deal, then, about Youngkin's policy?

Because it a) is focusing on marginalizing further a vulnerable policy under the guise of "reasonableness," b) it makes parents who have kids who are questioning their gender identity and wanting to transition socially put that into formal documents even if they won't end up being transgender long-term. It basically puts them in a "forced choice" category rather than a flexible one.

But it's not the same with gender identity--there are non-binary, there are questioning etc.
