Make it very uncomfortable to live here even if you can pour through the border.

If Congress does nothing, then they’re allowed in, and are here legally.

That doesn’t mean you have legal permanent residence, which still has to be determined in court. No laws require anyone to provide non permanent residents with banking access, housing access or driver’s licenses. Make it very uncomfortable for living life here.

How is that even possible? They have legal presence.

Legal presence =/= permanent residence. How’s it hard to understand? You need a court date to grant asylum. There are no laws that require banks to allow access to the banking system for non-permanent residents. Make it a law that doesn’t allow non-residents, with few exceptions like students etc, to open bank accounts for starters. Do the same for long term housing. Permanent residence must be required except for maybe students.

That would prevent all legal immigrants from putting down roots. How is that going to help?

I know it’s a crazy idea, but how about we expect Congress to do their damn job, and legislate a fix?

No it wouldn’t, legal residents would include people with work visas if they’re waiting for their green card. They would be exempted. That’s because it means they were doing things legally with UCIS. You’re here legally if you ask for asylum, but it doesn’t mean you’re an asylee until a court has granted it. No one has to provide you by law with long term housing, driver’s licenses, or banking. Cut it off until they’re legal permanent residents. Sure, you can come in all you want. It’s not required that we make it comfortable for you.

No. it. didn't. With Biden, we have seen nearly 7 million encounters. 7 million. Demonstrably more than any president IN OUR HISTORY.
He did away with every. single. measure. Trump had in place. THAT lack of enforcement.
Add to that the fact that this administration has told CBP and ICE that simply being in the country illegally is not grounds for deportation.
