I find this interesting as my dc accepted at IU and UGA but not offered honors at either. Wondering how the kids' profiles are different. Mine dc 1500 SAT, 3.8 UW GPA (school doesn't weight GPA).

UGA honors is based on the UGA gpa that they rework for each applicant, adding weight only for AP/IB but not Dual or honors and test score, not sure how IU honors is decided.

This is last years stats for UGA honors, probably a bit higher this year with the increased applicants

GPA Middle-50% of All Admitted Honors Students: 4.26-4.45 (UGA recalculated GPA)
SAT Middle-50% of Admitted Honors Students: 1510-1550

Ole Miss with a significant amount merit aid. It's the safety school.

She didn't apply for any aid-still hasn't finished the FASFA (or whatever it's acronym is). Hasn't heard back from any others yet.

Congratulations!

By the way, is the engineering program at Penn State a direct admit? Or do prospective engineering students have to apply specifically into the engineering program during their sophomore year? I thought that an acceptance from Penn State means acceptance into the university, but not a specific major.

DP, but no there is no direct admit into engineering. You are admitted into pre-engineering and everyone applies (usually toward end of sophomore year) for your specific major like computer science, etc. if you have a certain GPA. I’ve heard the only advantage in getting accepted directly into pre-engineering/computer science, etc. is that some classes have enrollment limits that can only be overridden for those admitted into the pre-engineering programs - especially some of the summer LEAP classes.

Admitted to his safety with significant merit aid. He's relieved. His grades have been up and down since Covid and DC was kind of freaking out.

Not exactly sure how it works, but my kid’s acceptance letter states admission into the College of Engineering Pre-Major-to University Park. Not sure what the difference is between that and direct admit.

Accepted into Indiana University. Would they tell us with the acceptance if they are offering any $ or is that a separate mailing? Didn’t see any offer of $ Safety. Waiting on at least 6 more, including Maryland. 😀

Awesome! Did your kid get an email or just happen to check the portal?

Congratulations

ditto on the congrats

I grew up about an hour from West Chester and I never gave it much thought as a high schooler. I was investigating it for my daughter for a short while, though, and started following a few IG accounts for the town. Such a cute area!

Thinking of applying there.
