Congratulations

ditto on the congrats

I grew up about an hour from West Chester and I never gave it much thought as a high schooler. I was investigating it for my daughter for a short while, though, and started following a few IG accounts for the town. Such a cute area!

Hi, I'm the PP who posted about Kent State and West Chester. Both were my DD's safety schools and she's not incredibly excited for either, but I think part of that is we had a very, let's say... low energy tour guide when we went to West Chester last month. I think if we went back for another tour she'd probably be pretty excited. I thought the surrounding area was really cute too. I'm happy that she got in there, since I'd like to have her be within a 4 hour driving radius.

Just wanted to let you know that my nephew is going there - to West Chester - it's his first year. He loves it. It's been a great experience for him. He wasn't super driven in highschool but he is finding the classes inspiring and he is excited about his major and he's happy with the school overall. Hope this helps.

Not much of a sample size but my niece also is at West Chester and absolutely loves it. She never comes home.

PP who posted about Kent State and West Chester earlier. Thank you both for chiming in. I love hearing about good experiences with west chester. If it ends up being a contender we'll probably go back and take another tour. In addition to having a not-great tour guide, we did that visit right after we visited The College of New Jersey, where we had an amazing tour guide.

Anyone have thoughts on Kent State? They sent a follow-up letter offering $50K over 4 years in scholarship money, which is making it very attractive to us. But I don't know anyone whose kids go there so have no info. Thanks!

Anonymous wrote:Accepted into Indiana University. Would they tell us with the acceptance if they are offering any $ or is that a separate mailing? Didn’t see any offer of $ Safety. Waiting on at least 6 more, including Maryland. 😀

Awesome! Did your kid get an email or just happen to check the portal?

HI there, she received an email.

Pitt and Minnesota for CS too! Surprisingly got substantial merit from MN. Unfortunately kid isn't super excited. Would love just a little from Pitt but haven't heard anything as of yet.

Temple gets not much love on this forum, but my dd goes there and it's been great. Check out their admitted student day. It was fantastic and we were sold. And the Amtrak Northeast regional train has been perfect.

The Twin Cities is a great area. Minnesota is right in the middle of all of it. People on DCUM don't tend to talk alot about it, but it looks like a great place. It has a good reputation.

I had a very talented colleague in journalism who graduated from Kent State. She had a great experience and has had a very strong career.

Thanks for your response. My kiddo didn’t hear back yet but who knows. Their website said 4-8 weeks and it hasn’t been that long yet. Fingers crossed!

My kid was deferred (I guess?) from Indiana a few weeks ago. They didn’t call it that but they said they couldn’t make a decision until he sent first semester grades.

Per Naviance there have been 3 acceptances out of 100 applications to Penn State at my DD’s Bethesda HS.

How do you find that out? Where in Naviance do I look?

My DC applied to Penn State 10/26 and heard back 11/23. It is random (not by school or major).

Thanks! For my MCPS school, those bars are previous school years (not this year). It sounds like from the Naviance thread, settings might be different from school to school.

Possibly, but you would think all MCPS schools would be consistent.

Anonymous wrote:Accepted for Computer Science at Pitt yesterday! DS actually loves Pitt so this is a great confidence booster early on in the application cycle. App submitted 9/9.

Congrats!

Yes, Congrats! DD applied too, but not CS. We are waiting to hear. How long between when your DS applied and when he was accepted, may I ask?

LIked PITT. Liked Pittsburgh too! Seems like a great place!
