Any acceptances in hand already?

Pitt and Minnesota for CS too! Surprisingly got substantial merit from MN. Unfortunately kid isn't super excited. Would love just a little from Pitt but haven't heard anything as of yet.

Temple gets not much love on this forum, but my dd goes there and it's been great. Check out their admitted student day. It was fantastic and we were sold. And the Amtrak Northeast regional train has been perfect.

That's great. Congrats. That's what I've been trying to drill into DSs head for the past 18 months. You can apply anywhere but cost has to be in the ballpark of in-state.

Congratulations

ditto on the congrats

I grew up about an hour from West Chester and I never gave it much thought as a high schooler. I was investigating it for my daughter for a short while, though, and started following a few IG accounts for the town. Such a cute area!

Hi, I'm the PP who posted about Kent State and West Chester. Both were my DD's safety schools and she's not incredibly excited for either, but I think part of that is we had a very, let's say... low energy tour guide when we went to West Chester last month. I think if we went back for another tour she'd probably be pretty excited. I thought the surrounding area was really cute too. I'm happy that she got in there, since I'd like to have her be within a 4 hour driving radius.

Just wanted to let you know that my nephew is going there - to West Chester - it's his first year. He loves it. It's been a great experience for him. He wasn't super driven in highschool but he is finding the classes inspiring and he is excited about his major and he's happy with the school overall. Hope this helps.

Not much of a sample size but my niece also is at West Chester and absolutely loves it. She never comes home.

MY DD applied to Temple because a few friends from her high school (great students) are there and they love it. She was accepted and got good merit aid. Definitely on her list.

I find this interesting as my dc accepted at IU and UGA but not offered honors at either. Wondering how the kids' profiles are different. Mine dc 1500 SAT, 3.8 UW GPA (school doesn't weight GPA).

That is so strange - you are the second person now who has told me the tour guide they had there was no good. Makes me wonder if it was the same person?

Did you look at any of the other PA state schools? We have Slippery Rock on our list, but my daughter is a likely dance major. A friend of mine is a Millersville alum.

We had a lovely tour guide at West Chester! It is amazing how much a dud tour guide can kill the vibe.

Congrats! Did your child apply ED or EA? Mine submitted EA but we're not expecting to hear anything until December.

EA. We weren't expecting anything so soon, either.

DS got into Pitt (Dietrich). 4.0 (school doesn't weight but something around a 4.7 weighted), 1570, pretty solid extracurriculars. Hoping for merit-based aid and an honors college acceptance!

UGA honors is based on the UGA gpa that they rework for each applicant, adding weight only for AP/IB but not Dual or honors and test score, not sure how IU honors is decided.

My kid got into IU with honors and direct admit to major. 1490 SAT and 3.98/4.8 gpa, 15 APs. Maybe they weight the gpa and courses higher than test scores?
