It’s the GMOs. If you live close to Canada, go there on a weekend to do your weekly produce shopping. Most fruits/ vegetables and all grains in the USA are genetically modified and not every organism can break them down. |
I don't think the science supports this. Can you provide a link that shows GMOs are harmful? What is harmful is Roundup, unsafe chemicals and antibiotics in our foods, BPA, flame retardants, and chemicals from pervasive plastic in our food. We need safe food and water. Vote accordingly! |

It is just a bunch of overweight people looking for something else to blame for why they are overweight. Sorry, but it isn’t GMOs, pesticides, or plastic |
I think it’s lectins and sugar.
For those interested in learning more about inflammation I’d totally recommend “the plant paradox”, which explores the role lectins play in our food chain/bodies. |
Write this up! This is Nobel Prize winning data. I’m sure the thousands of researchers who have been working on these issues for decades can learn from your brilliance! Please share your data supporting your assertions! |
I’ve been in Europe for 3 weeks after being in the US for 4 years. My doctor was very surprised and worried at the high level of inflammation in my recent bloodwork. I’m most concerned because my pcp in the USA mentioned about the inflammation in a very casual way, as if it’s something to be expected. I’ll be testing again in a month to compare the results. |
Yeah this doesn’t track for me. My family in Italy eats rusks or cookies for breakfast with cappuccino. Crostini, sandwiches, potatoes frittata, focaccia, Bruschetta, pasta, pizza all very commonly seen at lunch and dinner. Young people are thin, older people are often a bit fat. |
GMOs
Corn syrup I noticed a lot of the foods that cause me joint pain and swelling are GMO foods. Coincidence? I don’t know. Corn is a bad one for me. |
|
What do you mean by inflammation in recent blood work? What markers show this? |
The Italian breakfast pastries are small as is the cappuccino. You would have to grab 5-6 cookies and pastries plus 5-6 cappuccinos to equal what you get here in the coffee shop. The portions above are much smaller and they aren’t being served with fries and a bucket of coke. Young people are thinner because it’s completely unacceptable to be a fat young person. They’ll skip meals and cut portion sizes if they start gaining. |
C- reactive protein test. It’s high in American standards also but since so many people have it, the doctors recommend pt. Where I am, it’s rarely seen for my age and weight when the rest of my bloodwork is normal. |
Same with me. People are looking for scientific evidence which is not available. Before arriving to the US, many are told to be extremely careful with food consumption in order to keep normal weight , that the food in the US is different from Europe or Canada. I know of a 24 year old professional ballerina who put on 18 lbs in a month eating the same way she ate in Eastern Europe. It was a disaster. She was put on a 1000 calorie diet until the end of her 1 year contract. Does GMO affect everyone? Probably not. But it definitely affects many, especially those who are not used to it. |
I think GMO is bad for a variety of reasons but I am not convinced that it’s the one thing that ruins our food supply. |
