Sure, but STEM interest and aptitude across the county. Not just a few affluent middle schools.

Kids weren’t in school to receive free meals in fall of 2021 so no cheaters then.

Incorrect. Some applicants were in school in fall of 2021.

Which NoVA schools were in person in fall 2021?

Loudoun. Fairfax wasn't?

Ugh. Fall of 2020 when the class of 2025 was applying.

I don't remember the timing, but Loudoun was giving out meals even with schools closed.

But people had to go get them. Most families weren’t “currently receiving” them. It would be a much more blatant lie.

I disagree. It was actually was easier last year than this year to claim “receiving free meals”. Last year, the food staff were not collecting names. We picked up meals a few times and no one asked who we were or asked me to sign anything. I picked up at two different schools, so pretty sure this was County policy. I was only asked how many kids were in my household. It was a total and complete honor system. This year, the school might MIGHT be able to eyeball who is actually taking the meals while at school, but I doubt they actually keep track.

But far fewer people who weren’t low-income received those lunches.

Chances are not many would have cheated. It would have been a much more blatant lie.

Sure, but STEM interest and aptitude across the county. Not just a few affluent middle schools.

That's the core debate is it STEM interest or STEM aptitude. The wokesters are more about interest and the other side is about aptitude.

I'll just say this, do you want the surgeon who is the most interested in medicine or the one who is the best at doing actual surgery.

You are making some big assumptions about who actually lied. May not fit your racist worldview, friend.

When it comes to self-interest, all these anti-elite rants are forgotten.

Obama for all his community organizer rhetoric studied in elite schools, sent his kids to Sidwell and those kids went to elite schools as well.

Ok. Tell that to the PP who randomly brought it up.

I wouldn’t want a doctor who lied about meals. Race is irrelevant.

The first question I ask my dr is did you receive free meals in 7th grade. I then ask what math class he/she took that year.

It shouldn't

What if the kids with the most interest and aptitude aren't evenly distributed across the county? Why are you so obsessed with whether certain middle schools are "affluent" and less interested in whether TJ is actually fulfilling the obligations of a Governor's School?

I think that's the biggest problem no one is talking about. Allowing tests without proctoring is absurd and nonsense. I bet people here calling others cheaters are the ones whose kids have defrauded the system by having parents or coaches write essays for them. FCPS needs to catch them, and maybe redo the entire exam with some sanity in the process!!

Furthermore, there is an even bigger problem. The online testing allowed for serious cheating. There is no way they are going to undo that.

That's exactly what the new standard accomplishes.
