08 Girls

Two player from Courage classic move up to RL and have made an improvement. Unfortunately it’s not enough. Some of the players in RL level belongs to the Rec level. It’s disappointing to watch how PWSI let’s a rec level player in their RL league. This could be because of covid and pwsi is trying to do good for all players to have a home. However, I would like to see some real cuts this fall

The Red team was not any better than the classic team and some players moved from the Red team down to classic. Why pay more for the same product? The remaining NPL players that did not make VDA know they cannot be competitive in RL just by combining with the Red team. The Red team cannot even handle NCSL div1. Before the Red team became RL they were in NCSL div1 and did not do well.

PWSI 08G Classic finished 2nd in NCSL div1 Fall 2020 but lost 2 players to the RL team this Spring. If you look at 08G classic team’s history, they have always been competitive. RL cost $2K while the 08G classic cost $700?

08G classic seems somewhat competitive. I don’t think they’re open to players though as most classic programs aren’t run in the same manner as the ones that would be offered by the club. Typically classic programs/teams are formed from solid recreational teams from what I’ve seen.

08G pride is another story. It looks like they switched divisions in NCSL last year possibly due to not being able to compete in the higher one. That’s based off of a post way back.

08G Pride are group of chubby rec girls that wants to play soccer. 08G Classic girls has open tryout but no one show up for the tryout. 08G RL group of girls with money so the parents can say their kid play on an ECNL-RL travel team.

Yikes.

I guess it still falls back to a numbers game. No interest in joining PWSI just leads to a bunch of teams full of players that shouldn't be where they are and clubs are afraid to cut loose the players that may need work that they cannot provide.

There are some good players on the RL team, but it has a lot of holes to fill to be competitive, you should come out and try out before ignoring the club.

The RL team need to recruit about 2-3 quality players to replace some holes and they can be a strong decent team. The coach have made a lot of progress but just need to fill in the gaps

PWSI has taken steps to remedy the lack development by offering VDA East pre-ecnl. It is a step in the right direction, I think. https://www.pwsi.org/vdaeast. I guess they must brand it as pre-ecnl to sale it when it is not needed. Parents will pay for good development. However, this does not address the current 08G RL issue. How will PWSI retain good players that they have in RL and recruit better players to join? Even the decent players in RL have a long way to go compare to VDA. How will PWSI help those players take the next step?

You mean QP

Culina retired and all eyes on Quann to make the improvement. PWSI did try to make the right move by having their best coaches for 08 RL. They just now need to cut and recruit better players. I wouldn’t snub them as they are only a few players weak.

They put their best coach on the team and serious improvement has happened but they need to recruit players. There are players on this team that do not belong in R-ECNL.

It was probably difficult to assemble a team in COVID. QP will not be judged by the 08 R-ECNL record.

Pretty sure it has not been publicly announced quite yet. I'll be interested to see what happens with this team though considering all the comments. If you have a team like this with girls that shouldn't be on it but are purely because of 'status' and not performance how do you rebuild that.

No one said QP is to blame or anyone for that matter. PWSI is to blame and PWSI should fix it. The club takes credit for the good things they should also be accountable for the bad. It is the club and coaches job to make a suitable environment for kids to enjoy playing soccer. Right now it’s not fun. Parents wouldn’t be complaining if their kids are enjoying themselves.

So, according to all these comments, this is why they lost all but 1 player that was originally from 08 NPL. Players that didn't make VDA left to other clubs. Seems like they saw this coming.

What needs to be fixed? The team is getting better and will add some new talent and cut some players just like every team does every year. Are you saying it’s not fun to play PWSI 2008 R-ECNL?

Can’t say I can agree with a comment like this for a team that can’t find a win as of a few weeks ago.
