Feedback on VLC Club Lacrosse?

Plenty of D1 public school players from this area. Most played VLC including the best player currently playing lacrosse.

Right now true beats most of VLC’s middle school and elementary school teams. (True has teams at every grade - something VLC can’t say). Whether this continues into HS is the big question. ML looks shaky with multiple team implosions over the last couple years. So I think that there is a chance a team (true/VLC) moves into the third spot. DCEs 27 & 28s have serious problems and a lot of talented kids will need somewhere to go. VLC’s got a chance.

What serious problems does DCE 28 have?

One thing that VLC does not do well is marketing. One thing True does very well is marketing. That may be the difference. True is also making inroads into Loudoun. Getting the Dulles South kids is key historically the best players in the area have been from the Dulles South area/rec program.

Most kids will gravitate to the club that is most prevalent with the HS team. So elementary and middle school teams will fall apart as kids go into HS. Kids will also look to see college commitment track record. True VA needs to establish itself as a top club at HS and show up to big summer tournaments before it has any credibility.

I gotta say that even the idea that Dulles south produces any decent players is kind of a stretch as Fairfax and Arlington have pretty much owned the 6a state championship for years . McLean Yorktown Madison Robinson and oakton are the best lax highschools in Virginia

DCE 28 at both A and B are seriously oversubscribed. Withe 27& 25 kids respectively. Look for a lot of departchers in the fall as good players look for playing time

DCE 28 just started practicing and has not even played a game. So I would like to know the issues that are starting this early.

The problem is with True is that they keep pulling kids from other states to compete. Word has been out on this issue for awhile and not a place where local kids want to go to be seen in HS....

The other issue is that out of the 17 High Schools in Loudoun, only 4-5 have a real team... There are some good players in Loudoun, but a lot are now going to Private Schools.....

Just wait. The majority of the VLC 28 parents that caused problems on that team went to DCE 28. It will be interesting if changing helmets and driving over the American Legion bridge several times a week will result in a change in satisfaction levels.

Other than the 28 team where VLC has none and True has a very weak A level Hoco team, how is True doing better at MS/ES ages? 29 True is an AA team that was destroyed by a Richmond team in a summer tourny, VLC had an Elite team and probably AAA now combining Poon + leftovers. 2030 was AA and True was A, 2031 Poon was undefeated at AAA and True barely had a team.

In NOVA, True does a great job keeping a bunch of very mediocre players who will never play in college paying $3000+ and playing for tgen. That's indeed an amazing job. Unless that's what you call "beats" by quantity.

Thanks VLC Dad.

A group of kids from Hammers went to VLC, after leaving Cavs to go to Hammers (so they are back where they started).

So far the VLC practices I’ve watched have been the most organized, energetic, and positive youth sports practices I’ve ever seen. The communication to the parents from the coaches has been great, and the practice fields at GMU are top notch.

I know it is very early and I am sure things are very coach dependent. But the 33 team seems to be very well run, nothing at all like what I have read on this thread.

The coach for the 33s is a good guy and helped coach the 32s last year (BTW- from D1 coaches I have listened to and spoke with, you are wasting your time paying for travel before middle school. Let you kids play as many sports as possible so they don't get burned out and you as a parent don't end up like most on this thread).
