New Bravo Show: Real Housewives of Potomac

I didn’t like Wendy’s character for the first few episodes. Now I l lover her. I think she’s a great addition to the cast. I’m hoping she’s stays on as cast member.

Isn’t she mortified to have Pearl listening to them blow her off? She still seems so self-involved and totally remorseless.

I find the title "Not for lazy moms" to be completely condescending. I wouldn't want anything to do with that. Lazy to her means you don't use essential oils and start potty training at 10 months old.

All of this! And I was team Monique for a minute but that ridiculous logo/pic of a woman with multiple hands is off putting. I hate when someone has a couple of kids and then crown themselves mommy experts. But this is typical behavior in our town of competition parenting.

I agree it feels condescending ... but when she first joined the cast it was posted out to me ... it's because the acronym "NFL" moms, like national football league, it's a whole culture in itself she is trying to attach to

Isn't her husband an attorney?

I love Wendy's husband and sons. Wendy doesn't live in Potomac; although she may live near a stream which is a tributary to the Potomac River.

The Potomac River doesn't go anywhere near Carroll County.

Yes, her husband is an attorney.

Do you know what a tributary is? Most of the creeks and streams in Maryland flow into the Potomac, Anacostia and Patuxant Rivers, which eventusllly flow into the Chesapeake Bay.

She has terrible fashions and an overinflated ego. You can keep her.

Good god. There are no creeks and streams that flow into the Chesapeake Bay either. The only body of water near Westminster is some body of water called the Liberty Reservoir. Do you actually know where Carroll County is? It doesn't seem like you are familiar.

Wendy lives in Carroll County near Westminster. I think she's been a nice addition but she lives about 1.5 hours away from Potomac.

Ehh... on the basis of this alone she should not be on the show. Honestly, the show is boring because there isn’t enough glitz and glam. Replace her and Candiace with two people like Katie from Season 1 and then the ratings of the show will go up. People watch these shows because they want to see how the “other half” lives.

+100. Carroll County is a dump. You can get a mansion there for 600-700k. I agree with you on the lack of glitz and glam. I almost laughed when Juan says his ring budget is 10k. That’s every other family in my neighborhood and I live in a pretty normal area.

I don't want to be snarky, but I missed that. 10K???

I felt sad knowing he'd be judged (and laughed at and torn to pieces) after being vulnerable. Sure, he could say $100k, and go into debt and ruin his family's lives to put on a show for you, but I was happy to hear him just be real.

+1000 Anyone who watches the show knows they went from rich to broke and are clawing their way back. If you're laughing at him for spending his money responsibly you're an idiot. And nobody (I do mean nobody) is impressed by your engagement ring, either.

I agree. So happy that he kept it real. That's the sign of a real man in my opinion.

Agreed. If I had to do it all over again, I would have banked the money my husband spent on my ring. I just wear an eternity band now and wear the ring about once a month. Big engagement rings are over rated.

He’s not some paragon of responsibility. If he was a real man who cared about their financial health, he wouldn’t have bought anything. He and his wife are typically overextended losers and he went for the 10k ring bc that’s the max credit limit on his card.

Thank you. Finally, a voice of reason. I blame Robyn more than Juan though - the responsible thing would have been for her to tell Juan not to get a ring at all, considering she owes 90k in taxes and they’re saving to buy a house. It would be so much more romantic to see them have a small, modest wedding (with plain wedding bands) and then move into a home that they had saved for together.

+1

They have made terrible financial choices for years, and let’s not forget they got divorced in the first place because he cheated and tried to leave for his girlfriend. Who then dumped him. While I really like Juan and Robyn, they are not exactly models for a healthy relationship.

I just have to put this out there: Jamal is quite possibly the least appealing man I have ever seen. He has to turn every simple conversation into a sermon. His conversation with Gizelle as she was driving him to the airport was cringeworthy. He speaks in lofty nonsense phrases and she just nods along, like he’s making perfect sense. I’ll never understand what she (and his other baby mamas!) see in him.

Why do these women make such terrible choices??

I don't see why it is necessary for a ring either. Its just story line... Isn't Robyn starting ANOTHER business? the hats?

I just don't get this Jamal thing. Aside from being philanderer, he's short and has no neck. The way he dresses is cringeworthy and his faux Martin Luther King way of speaking is annoying.

Agreed. In fact, I did not want an engagement ring at all and if dh had try to buy me one I would have made him take it back. I don't get spending 10k on a ring. There are people on this thread making fun of that as a low figure but it seems extraordinarily wasteful to me.
