can someone please explain why? am not allowed to start a new thread.

DP but she polls better than Biden in most categories with the exception of old white people. Also, before it was a hypothetical. Now it's reality. We'll see how much things change now that the Democrats have a fresh ticket instead of a tired old man with dementia. Haven't we all seen the Trump show before? It's a tired act. Harris brings a generational shift and fresh energy to the ticket at the top. And don't discount having the first woman President as being a thing for Democrats and younger voters.

+1. I’m raising two Gen Z voters. They would have voted with zero enthusiasm for Biden. But probably only because we raised our kids to believe voting is the responsibility of every adult citizen (kids had to go with one parent when they voted, if they did, we got Mellow Mushroom while we watched returns, etc). They are fired up. Which is essential. Because Boomers will always vote. Dem win if Gen Z turns out. But, Gen Z won’t turn out, writ large, for meh vs worse meh.

My GenZ kids aren’t fired up. One said he’d vote for Whitmer. Maybe they will be, but not yet…

are they going to vote for Trump?

No. But, not sure if Harris will get them to the polls.

If they were part of the gen z ageism outrage then they need to get to the polls. They got what they wanted now they need to show up.

Why do you say they'll be Obama like?
They are very different people.

Her rallies in 2020 were truly inspiring.

No they weren't.

Look. I want her to win. The last thing this country needs is 4 years of Trump.

But you all need a better strategy than gaslighting people about how she performed in 2020
And falsely equating her to Obama because she to is half black.

No, she did lousy in the last primary. But she was elected DA, AG, and senator so she's not totally to be written out.

She has a huge amount of goodwill and support behind her right now, from Dem pols and voters, from independents, from Never Trumpers, from Gen Xers and Millennials and Gen Zers, from regular Americans. All she has to do is not flub it too badly and she will be the next president.

We'll see. My fingers are crossed (as are so many other people's fingers).

If she isn't rambling about sharks and electrocution and isn't giving away state secrets and can strong together a few sentences without a gaffe, then she is better than the other guy.

A few sentences… like these?

Who else is suddenly really pumped for November? I can't remember the last time Democrats were this excited! Probably 2008.

Yep, absolutely getting the same vibe

You are getting an exciting vibe from the democratic process being blatantly disregarded in favor of the power of a few? Weird flex but ok go off

The only people who think that are conservatives. It's not the Democratic process, it's internal party decision making which presents a candidate for the democratic process.

So primaries don’t matter? Is that what you are suggesting? The will of the people doesn’t matter?

They do. She was on the ticket. Nobody is upset about this, except Trumpers.

She was on the ticket as VP.

What I find truly hilarious is that when Biden was the candidate, all anyone could talk about (in horrified whispers) was that if anything happened to him, *Kamala Harris* would be president - the absolute horror!! And that a vote for Joe Biden was really a vote for Kamala Harris as president. And now, all of a sudden, Democrats are pretending that this same person is the very best candidate in the world! And she’ll make a great president! It’s so, so funny.

The spin being put on this truly horrible candidate (who millions agreed would be awful, up until one day ago) is something to behold.

From imaginary stories comes this.

72 hours ago, Biden was vowing he wouldn’t drop out . That was Friday.

What changed?

Most voters do not want to make their decision based only on abortion access. But here we are.

+1. My other big one is gun control. I’d love to have choices but I never do.

+2. If you re a woman between 18 and 40+ or have a daughter, no issue has the potential to have as big a direct impact on your life and health as abortion access. I’d love if I didn’t have to vote on that. I’d also love to not be forced to carry a dying fetus to term or wait for an ectopic pregnancy to actually rupture to get care or just be forced to have more kids than I can mange. And I d*mn sure want that for DD. First put out the fire, then argue about the countertop colors.

RFK being forced out of the primary. That's a lie.

Also, why would you do it this way if you had a choice?

The difference being that Obama was actually a good orator. Kamala will string together her nonsense phrases and idiots will applaud. We’ve all seen it before.

Kamala is actually an excellent orator in places like the judiciary committee. Very sharp, precise and concise. She had trouble making the transition to dumbing it down for the masses and especially for being a sharp orator while still being “likeable” (which women must be. Otherwise they are b*thcy). She is a lawyer and was a prosecutor. That’s a different skill set than candidate. Hence the odd sharp remark with a laugh and smile that don’t match it in 2020.

I’m hoping three years of meets and greets and VP feel good stops have honed her soft skills. Because she is most definitely not dumb or incompetent or a poor communicator. She did have trouble dumbing it down in 2020 though. Let’s see what she’s learned.

Now I get it! She’s so intelligent that she can’t talk to us regular, stupid people. No wonder I couldn’t understand what she was saying half the time. It’s clearly my problem, not hers!!!!

Then you didn't teach your daughters what's important: qualifications, intelligence, integrity, work ethic. Not genetics.

When almost twenty years ago Angela Merkel ascended to the arguably most important political position in Europe, chancellor of Germany, nobody even mentioned the "peculiarity" of her being a woman. It was a non-issue.

Yes, Trump's power is truly immense - he has turned Kamala into the next president.

And that was the nightmare scenario up until yesterday. As we all know.

The person saying that the loudest was Nikki Haley. Not really a reliable narrator.

Are you kidding? Democrats themselves were saying this. The entire nation was saying this. Pretty funny how fast you all can convince yourselves otherwise.

She is a classless jerk, but the issue underlying it is very real. Harris cannot be perceived as hiding the truth of Biden’s health any more that she has already.

He’s 81 and has COVID. That has been announced. It’s not secret. It’s not a coverup. He’ll recover and he’ll speak to the nation. Or he won’t. But give him a week to recover before declaring him dead.

This is is last real shot to address the country in his career. He already stutters. Rs make fun of it. But, it’s a real issue. He doesn’t want to show up with a fever and coughing. I’ll grant him that.

So in the Republican cosmology, women can never qualified or intelligent or have integrity or work ethic? Wow. You really do hate women.

And then you nominated two unqualified White men again in the biggest DEI move ever. You guys love affirmative action, but it can only be applied to White men. Everyone else is unqualified, unintelligent, has no integrity and no work ethic.
