US has no good options in Ukraine

He is your hero as long as Russia doesn't aim their missiles towards the US.. Or as long as they don't target your area with the massive cyber attacks to make it uninhabitable for a while. Once your kids are cold and hungry, we will see how you will cheer foreign officials bravery that may drag us into a war we were trying to avoid for many decades. I will admire from afar.. as long as we don't get deeply involved

Frankly, I would die for Ukraine (I live in DC). So yes, I stand with Zelensky against insane bully monsters. They must go even if I die.

Great, I will buy you a one way ticket so that you could go die for Ukraine I am not willing to even lose a finger for them if it means that our country will be attacked and we have to live under the shadow of constant extermination threat. why do we care about this country so much more than other horrible places we had abandoned and condemned their residents to tortuous lives (hello, Afganistan?) Is this because you are more likely to die for European white people, because it's ok for brown people to suffer all over the world? You are all hypocrites.

Russia doesn’t get the rusted doors of their silos open before we wipe them off the map

Our silos are rusted. Our missiles are slow, inaccurate and easily shot down. Russia has highly maneuverable hypersonic nuclear missiles against which we have no defense. https://www.military.com/equipment/weapons/why-russias-hypersonic-missiles-cant-be-seen-radar.html

For the billionth time poster. Russia has no hypersonics. None. Not a one. None are operational Our nukes are the most accurate in the world by far. Our nukes are at least 4 generations ahead of Russia today.

In any event you cannot get past our subs.

I hope you are right, but you also could be a delusional idiot. Sorry to be so blunt.

You aren’t blunt. You’re rude.

DP. Are you asking why anyone in the US cares about Ukraine? We don't especially care about Ukraine. We care about Putin and his aggression.

Zelensky, whatever his imperfections, is doing a great job as a war president. He's not my hero, but I can admit that he's admirable. And if Putin starts launching nukes at DC, it won't be because Zelensky is charismatic. It will be because Putin is an insane idiot who went nuts during the pandemic.

Because if we do not stop them here we will live under a constant threat or nuclear war. Freedom is not free. There is a huge price to pay to live in the land of milk and honey that is this country. Do we go to war over Ukraine, no. The NATO countries? Yes.

He's human and, therefore, probably has some human skeletons in his closet. Additionally, his interests and those of Ukraine aren't entirely aligned with those of the U.S. So, one day, it wouldn't be at all surprising if he ended up acting in ways that aren't in the best interest of the U.S. Which is perfectly rational, but the heroic accolades might not hold up so well when that time comes to pass.

I could care less if he has skeletons. He is standing up when mankind itself is at the cross roads. That is all I need.

What cross roads is "mankind" itself at? Please elaborate. Mankind seemed to be ok until now?

Not PP. But we are at a decision point. Ukraine will not be all Putin will try to take back. Latvia is next. They are NATO. Should we attack? No. Should we be strong and defend NATO, yes.

+1 I don’t know what alternate reality posters are living in. We outspend every other country by billions.
Where do you all think that defense budget is going? Finding articles drumming up fear to keep those sweet dollars flowing doesn’t change the fact.
I’m not saying we wouldn’t see damage. We see ( rightfully) even 1 detonation as unacceptable. Putin does not likely share that sentiment.
He is an irrational actor.

Our military spending goes to salaries. Russia and China have hypersonic missiles. We don’t. https://www.ft.com/content/7d566088-7d25-4fde-9b02-311f86eb845e

25% goes to salary. that’s not most and even if it was, we’re still outspending everyone else.

Completely agree. Glad I voted for him.

Please, that's not reality. Putin united NATO. Biden admitted that SWIFT sanctions could not be implemented because he couldn't convince EU nations to go along. He admitted this openly. The NATO nations woke up because they realized that what has been repeatedly told to them has now come to pass, that their weak-kneed posturing on the global stage and flowery talks about peace and diplomacy is meaningless against an aggressive and ambitious enemy like Putin. They finally saw that the only way to protect themselves is through increased military spending because even Biden said the quiet part out loud that the west would do nothing if Putin just roughed up Ukraine a little bit.

It wasn't just Putin's actions, but mostly Zelenskyy's courage and his heartfelt and eloquent pleas for help. Had Zelenskyy left the country, NATO would not have grown a backbone. Zelenskyy has led his people so beautifully and because of that, the citizens of Ukraine are determined to defeat this enemy.
I give full credit to Zelenskyy for uniting the world against Russia. His social media posts demonstrated his will and bravery in the face of capture, torture, or death. He is the hero here.

+ 100 billion

Out of a crisis rises an unlikely hero. Zelensky will go down in the history books for his bravery. It's astounding and surprising. Wow, the man could be killed any second, yet he keeps fighting for his country. That's a true hero.

You are no hero.

You are a coward.

Shame on you.

Zelensky towers above you in moral stature, bravery, integrity. He is a hero.

Or, he called the EU out publicly to ramp up the pressure on them

AGAIN, reality: Biden admitted that EU refused to kick Russia out of SWIFT. Biden did not call them out and was trying to explain how the *other* sanctions are nearly as good. He was giving cover to the EU's refusal and only admitted that the EU refused to kick Russia out of SWIFT after repeatedly being asked by multiple reporters why this has not yet been done.

Not sure what you mean by "admitted". Biden has been great so far. Our CIA had great intelligence and we used it properly, removing Putin's justfication for invading Ukraine. That was great. What are you complaining about?

admit
1. confess to be true or to be the case, typically with reluctance.

AGAIN, reality: following that revelation the European countries that were against kicking Russia out of SWIFT changed their minds and Russia got kicked out of SWIFT
