The polling that matters is going to be the polling after the DNC next month. Until then, anyone telling you this isn’t a gamble is lying. And any poll when many people didn’t really believe Biden would leave isn’t really accurate. IDK if the gamble will pay off or not. But, I feel better today than I did a few months ago, because a 50% chance of gamble working out beats a 95% chance of losing and taking all the down ballot races with it.

There’s a chance it works. Would I like more? Sure. But a chance is better than no shot at all.

Yep, absolutely getting the same vibe

You are getting an exciting vibe from the democratic process being blatantly disregarded in favor of the power of a few? Weird flex but ok go off

The only people who think that are conservatives. It's not the Democratic process, it's internal party decision making which presents a candidate for the democratic process.

So primaries don’t matter? Is that what you are suggesting? The will of the people doesn’t matter?

They do. She was on the ticket. Nobody is upset about this, except Trumpers.

She was on the ticket as VP.

+1
What I find truly hilarious is that when Biden was the candidate, all anyone could talk about (in horrified whispers) was that if anything happened to him, *Kamala Harris* would be president - the absolute horror!! And that a vote for Joe Biden was really a vote for Kamala Harris as president. And now, all of a sudden, Democrats are pretending that this same person is the very best candidate in the world! And she’ll make a great president! It’s so, so funny.

The spin being put on this truly horrible candidate (who millions agreed would be awful, up until one day ago) is something to behold.

The person saying that the loudest was Nikki Haley. Not really a reliable narrator.

She said whichever party dropped their 80 year old candidate first would win. She's right about that.

DP but she polls better than Biden in most categories with the exception of old white people. Also, before it was a hypothetical. Now it's reality. We'll see how much things change now that the Democrats have a fresh ticket instead of a tired old man with dementia. Haven't we all seen the Trump show before? It's a tired act. Harris brings a generational shift and fresh energy to the ticket at the top. And don't discount having the first woman President as being a thing for Democrats and younger voters.

+1. I’m raising two Gen Z voters. They would have voted with zero enthusiasm for Biden. But probably only because we raised our kids to believe voting is the responsibility of every adult citizen (kids had to go with one parent when they voted, if they did, we got Mellow Mushroom while we watched returns, etc). They are fired up. Which is essential. Because Boomers will always vote. Dem win if Gen Z turns out. But, Gen Z won’t turn out, writ large, for meh vs worse meh.

My GenZ kids aren’t fired up. One said he’d vote for Whitmer. Maybe they will be, but not yet…

Might as well choose a popular actor if we're throwing the need for experience out the window.

Trump wasn’t elected for anything either but I’m going based on AOCs video yesterday and the rumor that donors hung up on Kamala. Donors don’t want to waste millions on a wasted candidate and no donors = no campaign which is why Biden was forced out. If Kamala doesn’t get the donors to warm up to her, then Mo will be brought in by force at the 11th hour and her husband will run the presidency yet again

She raised over $30,000,000 last night.

She actually raised 50 million!

Trump raised nearly that much just from Elon Musk.

Yes, from one donor. Harris has raised through grass roots means which shows there is a great deal of enthusiasm.

Especially among Black women, who just a few days ago Republicans were insisting didn’t like Harris.

Most people underestimate the power of AKA and other black sororities. AKA invited Michelle Obama to become a member. Harris is already a member. AKA focuses on inviting the rich and powerful into their ranks, and you will have trouble if you don't align with them. The Divine 9 is a powerful group. I can't wait to see what they bring to the table.

You can’t wait to see what a… sorority brings to the table? For the future of this country? Wow.

Bad idea. She’s on a very compressed timeline. She can govern well. Or she can campaign well. She can’t do both in 100 Days. He does the day job, she is 100% on the campaign. Plus, what policy victory is she going to score in 100 days with Mike Johnson in charge of the House? There isn’t going to be some huge legislative accomplishment for her to coast on.

If you vote for someone as VP, you’re saying you have confidence that they can step in as President at any moment.

Which is amusing because virtually NO one had confidence in KH stepping in as president - but now they claim she’s a fantastic candidate! The best! So excited!

Yep! Isn't it surprising how quickly things can change? Expect the unexpected, as the saying goes.

Here we go again…you know as a lifelong Dem I believe it’s up to the Dems to earn a vote. It’s not up to GenZ to save democracy. I wanted to vote at their age because Clinton was dynamic. They voted to save abortion access in the midterms, but let’s be real and admit the Dems haven’t done much for GenZ. They believe America is on the decline. So stop taking about TA Trump, and start inspiring young people.

She will get young women to the polls. I'm not allowed to support any political candidates or partisan positions because of work but I'm going to work on GOTV activities that target Gen Z.

Johnson wants Biden to resign and then will refuse to confirm a new VP which will make Johnson next in line. All he has to do then is hope something happens to Harris. I suspect that Democrats are not interested in playing that game.

I posted at 14:26 how Biden and influencers timed it right. Two things were deliberately planned before Biden agreed to announce. Had to be after the RNC when Trump was officially the nominee and wasted all his energy on Biden (bonus). Had to be before the DNC so Biden is not on the ballot. Announcement letter from Biden yesterday, immediately followed by endorsing Kamala. (bonus donations and delegates transfer to her)
Now Johnson is going to play litigation games. Irony, Harris litigates like a boss.
1. Laws about changing the nominee wouldn’t apply to Biden since he dropped out before the convention.
2. Any lawsuit challenging Biden dropping out “will have no legal basis whatsoever” and “would be a purely political act to create controversy where there is none.”
