A Coach is a paid employee of Valor and is subject to employee benefits as any other employee. There is no employee benefit to children of Valor employees to play for free. However, there is benefit of reduced fees which is common among clubs and organizations.

I think player happiness, parent happiness, player development and record all factor in.
With regards to the record, I feel like if I was terrible then I would have botched games but we did have a good fall season. Feel free to email me and let me know where I’ve gone wrong this year or in the past. Happy to hear your thoughts so I can improve.
I don’t think I’m great but I think terrible is a stretch.

We have won 16 games, lost 1, and tied 4 games since I’ve been the coach. How am I terrible?

Why do you think winning games when coaching little kids is how to best measure whether someone is a "good coach"? Just curious.

Why do you think that is what he is saying? Winning games is one of many ways to quantitatively measure a Coach’s performance.

As the Coach of the 1st team playing in a league that is supposed to be the 1st teams from other clubs and perhaps 2nd teams what other quantitative measures are available to compare?

What is a "real" coach and which teams have fake coaches?

Not really. Especially u-littles. It shouldn't be about winning. It should be about development. Valor has a problem with development because of nepotism.

Nobody is saying winning is everything. It is about development and winning and losing is a part of the growth and development process.

Exactly. This 'winning is the metric of whether it's a good coach/team/club' is why the club, and many in the area, guest kids down regularly, out them in lower divisions and brackets, and only focus on one or two players a team. Congrats, you won a tournament! Don't worry one kid scored all the goals and yours just watched.

Performance measures should be timed: type of drills, technical execution, number of repetitions completed. Does she/he have a left foot vs lead right foot (dribbling/passing/juggling/receiving the ball).

Valor girls side teams are generally not good even the "gold" or "pre-ecnl" teams.

They had that last year too. They couldn't hold that many players for u11 this year and the second team is BAD. Retention past u10 on the girl's side is really hard, especially good players. Their top team picked up second team players from clubs like VRSC, which didn't even have a second team until last spring. Yikes. doesn't look good imo even if they somehow managed some wins this season in pre-ecnl.

Don't most clubs collapse in team count when going from 7v7 to 9v9 rosters (then again at 11v11)?

Yes, the number of returning players from U10 to U11 was not that great.

What do you think the main reason for that was? Was there a big coaching shift? Did the U10s not perform well last year?

Poor coaching for sure. Parents trying to sub in due to staffing shortages. Zero communication, even some nepotism and missed practices. We left, my kid went straight to PA team. Much better experience. Don’t let them upsell you a 3rd, 4th or 5th team. Look at the divisions they are in first.

For those of you that left- were you on the hook for the full amount for the year or just stop payment?
I’m considering withdrawing my kid. Awful, just awful all around. Pitiful.

Technically you signed a contract. With that said last year we left a different club around this time of year. I went directly to the clubs director of operations. I had already decided it was better to cut my losses than continue to keep my daughter in that environment. I was able to recoup about half of the fees. But it was a lot of justifying and ultimately they agreed. I wouldn't go through that if you aren't willing to leave without paying in full.

Thanks for the heads up! I can’t stand this club.
