Entertainment and Pop Culture
I have seen some random posts from folks who have worked with him previously that contradict this. Of course who knows what is true vs not and who is a fake person, but at least one was a true cinematographer who worked with him previously and seemed of the opinion that they are not surprised whatsoever that the entire cast iced him out. |
This is what $175k will produce ^^ |
So very strange that people are all so over the place. I think people also just get along with who they get along with. A long, long time ago, I remember reading an Entertainment Weekly interview of Tom Hanks, and the reporter clearly did not like him—thought he was smug and belittling. I had been so disappointed to read that Tom Hanks was a D. Yet it’s not something I’ve ever heard since. And even in my own life, I have a coworker who I would describe as awful and narcissistic, while others have described them as a generous mentor. It’s pretty nuts that our perspectives can be so different. |
Yeah yeah yeah. Well nobody will believe anything now. I’m certainly not a PR plant. I can talk about any DCUM lore. Fried tuna? Larla? Stroller wars. Been here since 2010. Now back to the perimenopause forum where I belong… |
That was my first post in this thread. Know all of those references too, and joined when it was literally a email list. That doesn’t lend credibility in this topic to either of us. None of us know who’s posting, in any thread. People are paid trolls, and whether they’re on DCUM or not we don’t know. I do think your post is fascinating, especially since “you feel bad for the guy.” That you believe a friend of a friend so strongly to comment here is interesting wrt human nature. Your post is exactly what a PR campaign looks like, so you made yourself an easy target. But, I’ll def be seeing you in the perimenopause aisle.

| It's believable to me that a person trying to be a director in Hollywood gives off extremely different vibes to different people depending on who has power, whom he wants to impress, etc. |
His strongest supporters have been members of the crew, hers have been actors. I think that is an interesting commentary on who is likely to be nicer to the man on the street. |
She comes off as contemptuous of any one she sees as below her, which apparently includes most journalists. And not just in one interview, but dozens. |
So everyone just wants to burn the witch? A handsome man can shoot people in the back and the internet swoons. But God forbid a woman be annoying and the social media mobs will troll her relentlessly. People are sick. |
What supporters does he have again? Who exactly? |

Interesting reddit post from four months ago, but at that time it is hard to know if it is a PR plant (the same person posted the same comment a couple of times). The most interesting part to me is that Blake was talking about going to the NY Times months ago (prior to obtaining the text messages and evidence of smear campaign?)

What's sick is continuing to berate people because they don't like your golden idol. Why don't you just watch your Gossip Girl reruns and drink your Betty liquor. |
Sounds like trying to rewrite history. There was a meeting Jan 4 highlighting her concerns, well before any of that. |
Hmm. Seems like mean girls are right up your alley. |
DP to add that the background to the disagreement over cut seemed built on his cut and general directing angle being sympathetic to the male character (and abuser in the movie) with a redemption arc whereas female cast members including Blake and Colleen Hoover did not believe it should have that angle and disagreed with his take though it screened better. Also have seen posts that he got too far into method acting on set and perhaps that made him obstinate about wanting the male POV as director |
