Elon Musk buys $3 billion stake (9.2%) in Twitter and is now the platform's largest shareholder

I assume if it’s even 1B/yr loss he can float that for a long time. Or he can cut and go let it go bankrupt.

If it goes bankrupt, how much does Elon personally lose (what’s his stake)? Who ends up owning, controlling what remains (a bank I assume)?

Morgan Stanley, BofA, Larry Ellison, and the Saudis
https://www.reuters.com/markets/us/how-will-elon-musk-pay-twitter-2022-10-07/

“Elon Musk's team is seeking new investors for Twitter as users revolt, advertisers flee, and debt payments loom” AT THE SAME INSANELY INFLATED PRICE HE PAID 🤪
https://www.semafor.com/article/12/16/2022/elon-musks-team-is-seeking-new-investors-for-twitter

Per the article:
Total cost: 46.5B
Banks: 13B
Saudis, Larry Ellison & Friends: 7.1B
Elon already owned 4B
Elon Tesla cash out 20B
2-3B mystery

So Elon is in about 24-27B, which would be his max loss in a bankruptcy. Of course you don’t lose it all in bankruptcy as there is a restructuring and some value still.

Twitter is a private company. They can do what they want.

Those are the rules, right?

We are literally on another playground. Dcum. Pointing and laughing at him because we are free to do that.

I don’t think you’re as smart as you think you are, darlin.

The EU is threatening Twitter with sanctions over its censorship of journalists:

https://thehill.com/policy/technology/3778345-eu-official-warns-musk-of-red-lines-and-sanctions-to-come-following-suspension-of-journalists-on-twitter/

And if the meantime, Musk spent part of his day throwing a public temper tantrum at Bari Weiss for not falling in line to defend his suspension of other journalists.

And TSLA lost another 4.72% for the day.

How does the EU sanction a privately held US company? Are there European subsidiaries that fall under EU regulations?

Weird question. Twitter operates in those countries and must abide by their laws. They have a full right to sanction it, including banning it.

He’s alienated everyone who ever loved him. He’s surrounded by leeches and Yes Men.

This reminds me that the official @twitter account hasn’t tweeted anything since Musk took over. He must have fired everyone who has the password 😄

Binance is on the verge of blowing up, too. Grifters chickens are coming home to roost.

Fortunately Twitter is private now.

Tesla isn't...

And TSLA is currently down over 4% today. Probably not a coincidence.

Most people buying electric cars aren't his conservative friends. They're the liberals he hates. My current car is going to be my last ICE vehicle and I was considering a Tesla for my next car. Now after finding out just how bad he is, I will never buy one. Plenty of other companies sell them now. While I recognize that me saying that he lost a sale means less than nothing to him or his company, I definitely think his behavior is bad for Tesla.

Ditto. DH had an Ioniq 5, which we love. We’ve been saving for a more luxury electric for when my current car is ready for replacement. It’s not going to be a Tesla, that’s for sure. (Can’t wait to see what the Ioniq 7 ends up really looking like)

Conservatives arent buying them. But centrists are, along with non-progressive liberals. I own two, including the most high end one they sell (Plaid X). Politically, I am similar to Elon. I dont hate liberals at all, and I doubt he does either.

Not a weird question. The internet is global, but somehow the EU has arrogated to itself the right to police it for the world, including very heavy fines for companies operating out of nonEU territories for content they do not like that weirdly is not aimed at child porn.

The real beef is that no EU company employing Europeans on EU soil has an internet media operation with truly global reach. The hope is that by censoring and fining nonEU companies, they will promote the rise of an EU internet media champion. See Wirecard for an example of how eager EU countries are to promote national tech champions.
