Because there are still a lot of roles for older men. Robert DeNiro and Christopher Walken still get roles. Christopher Lee who usually played horror and villain roles was still acting until he died.

Well he has done serious roles as well. There’s Donnie Brascoe, City Lies, The Tourist, Murder on the Orient Express, Public Enemies and others. So no, all his work had not been about creepy men.

Yeah, it’s been well established that he has been an alky and druggie for decades. Despite that, he was still getting acting gigs, so what. I think it shows opposite of what you think it shows.

He hasn’t gotten any good roles in years. It’s sad because I think he really had talent. (Donnie Brasco is amazing.). But he hasn’t done any serious work in years now. The older you get, the harder it is to be a functioning alcoholic. And, really, his totally disfunction relationship with Heard probably accelerated his decline. (His previous partner was probably keeping him a bit on track.). I started this trial thinking is was a super dumb suit and his lawyers were taking advantage of him, but I was slighytly favorably inclined towards him. After seeing his total inability to acknowledge his substance abuse problems, I now think he’s his own worst enemy. Amber’s not great but Johnny is pretty awful. And really comes off as pretty stupid, which has surprised me, as I usually think people have to have some intellectual chops to bandle meaty roles. I guess this is why he has t transitioned into directing and producing like a lot of older actors. The people that are totally fawning over him are weird. At most, I feel sadness seeing what he’s become. It’s really sad when you realize that even with the talent, fame, and money, he couldn’t outrun whatever demons were probably with him since childhood.

I read something interesting from a deadline.com article. Apparently part of why there has to date not been any pirate 6 movie is because Disney is still in active litigation over a copyright infringement case related to the story brought forth by 2 writers and a producer. This has been going on for a few years now and they have not been able to get it dismissed. I’m not a Heard fan but I don’t know why her legal team didn’t bring this up. With the copyright lawsuit nobody from the franchise had been offered any further roles. Also Depp apparently has been having money problems since at least 2012 before marrying Heard. He took out a 5 million dollar loan with his former management company in 2012 because they say he had cash flow issues and did him a favor and then a few years later he defaulted and they placed foreclosure liens on his properties. That’s when the articles about his 30k a month drinking habits came to light.

I think they are both a mess and both abusive, but wow, he is the classic narcissist substance abuser. He needs to blame HER for his career tanking? It would have tanked without the oped because he is an egotistical addict with rage issues. I really felt for him hearing about his childhood because my mother is emotionally and verbally abusive. He didn't do the work to break the cycle of abuse.

Every narc has a sob childhood story, and they are truly a victim in their own eyes. Their fragile ego can't ever admit fault at anything. They sabotage themselves in the end just as he is doing right now because peacocking to the world is all they know. In addition, their world is made up of lies, so many lies that even they do not know anymore what is a lie and what is a truth.
Many people grow up with childhood abuse, most do not become abusive narcissists psychopats.
