Feedback on VLC Club Lacrosse?

I agree on all of the above.

If True can get started out in Loudoun...... then VLC will be in for a world of hurt...

Yep, and Cavs parents will march on to burn the next club, which sounds like True. Beware!

That is the likely outcome. As someone with a kid at True, it has its own issues. Though those issues are more at the National level and other branches of True (Chesapeake comes to mind at how poorly it is being run and I have my theories on why it is so poorly run but save it for another day and another thread not on VLC).

But, individual branches of True, like True VA, True Illinois, True NC are decently run. I make True akin to different individual franchises, sort of like McDonalds. You can go into one McDonalds and it is run like a naval ship: clean, quick service, etc. You can go into another McDonald's and it is run like a bad daycare center: food everywhere, slow service, writing on the walls, etc.

Yes, that is certainly a fear for some parents about the recent addition of players from VLC onto my son's True team. I'm withholding judgment to see what happens. There is certainly a good core of parents on my son's True team. Last year, my son's team incorporated some VLC kids and it seemed to work out. Took a few months for the ice to break but everyone seemed to get along by the end of the year. It will be interesting to see how this year progresses.

From what I've heard, most of the head case parents went over to True Chesapeake. Why someone that lives all the way our in Leesburg is making the trip to Annapolis a couple of times a week needs their head examined.

Further to add on my 2nd paragraph, that at least what I heard for my son's team don't know about other ages.

That is quite a drive for lacrosse, but I can tell you that many parents left VLC to Bethesda because of the coaching. You went from 1 coach and practicing on horrible grass fields to 4-5 specialized coaches and well lit turf. That makes a huge difference.

My bet is that the VLC families integrates well. Once they see a functional club they’ll be so grateful that you won’t hear a peep out of them. I guess that’s the upside of coming from a low quality club.

Here is the deal. VLC had some really strong past teams and great recruiting record. The current 7th 8th 9th grade teams are Cav teams that were not competively built but daddy coached from Dulles South and Ashburn youth lax. The youngest VLC teams look strong again son this middle group will just end up as a down cycle for the club.

Then, why is VLC holding supplemental tryouts for almost every age group. Get a grip VLC is clearly in a death spiral.

Here is the deal. VLC had some really strong past teams. The 24s were a good team, the 25s never were and blew through coaches, the 26s were good a few years ago and got caught and passed by other local clubs. You outlined the 27-29s. Since the Cavs merger, this all continued at a faster pace. Why do you think that after 5+ years of club mismanagement pre and post merger, team dysfunction and diminishing results both on and off field that a bunch of 5/6 grade boys will save the program?

LOL... Cav's existed so Mom's in western Ffx county and Loudoun Co can tell their friends that their son plays "travel" lacrosse.

If their kid was a serious player, they would have sent them to an Elite Club instead.

Cavs also had some of the most obnoxious parents. Get a grip, you are on a glorified B level team.

Notice how the VLC defenders can’t defend the performance of their own club so they resort to calling their own former customers obnoxious and “b players.” If those teams were so toxic and the players so mediocre why did VLC work so hard to merge with Cavs. Is it because the merger was a heartless money grab and it blew up in their faces?

Here’s a tip. Before you start bashing your own customers maybe try to think about how it makes you’re own club look. Use your head.

Ha. VLC defender? Not hardly. They are trash too with an exception of a couple grades.

Real Lax players would never play for either Club at the 27 and younger grades.

FYI a lot of former VLC kids are currently on and starting for the top teams at BLC, DCE and ML.
