Just as an example: When Bullis held Landon to 2, and then GP to 1 in the first half, you saw no great players on their defense? Or are you talking about goal scorers? |
Defense was very good. So good that it effectively stymied the offenses. And it's more than "goal scorers". On offense what I saw was a lot of outside shots that the goalies handled quite easily. I saw little athletic dodging to get better shots and almost no interior passing and resultant goals off of assists. These are good athletes who have played a lot of lacrosse, but "great" isn't an adjective I'd use to describe them. |
| I guess D1 commit isn’t good enough these days. Only Tewaaraton finalist for this guy. |
| Exactly. Just enjoy the games. Great high school players and teams for sure. Whether they will be great college players, tbd. We are blessed in this area to have amazing high school lacrosse, great rivalries, great parity. |
D-1 commit? I’m not sure how impressed one ought to be with that. First, there’s rarely any scholarship money since schools only have 12.6 to spread across 40 or so roster members. So these “commitments” are one-sided. And there are now 75 colleges playing D-1 Lax. So that means there are 1,000 to 1,500 of these D1 “commits” playing high school lax as seniors and another big group who are Juniors. |
You must be fun at parties. |

Bullis is under recruited I expect to see some of their DIII commits move over to D1 this summer.
The D3 middie is one of the best in the area for sure. The goalie is lights out for three straight seasons and the attack is a little small but strong presence plays much bigger than his size, great field awareness and lax IQ The team is really talented and makes me wish these coaches watched and recruited more form HS than club. These kids can hang with anyone. |
Someone needs to keep up. No more lax scholarship limits. |
| only if a college agreed to the House Settlement do they have opportunity to give athletic scholarships to everyone on the team but roster size is reduced to 48. Some schools did not sign the agreement and continue as they did previously with 12.6 scholarships but larger rosters. But even with all this said many schools are not fully funded which means that they are not paying out all of the scholarships they could, this includes both 48 and 12.6 schools. So most D1 players do not have full scholarships |
Bullis doesn’t have a D3 middie. Bullis has two A players (17 and 28) a bunch of B players and the rest who know their role. They only play 13 or 14 kids, which there is a lesson in for the other teams in the area. |
To add to this… no school is coming close to funding 48 scholarships, and I would say less than 5% of D1 players have full lax scholarships. Most D1 players are not on scholarship at all, and the vast majority of those that are have a scholarship that is valued at 25% (or less) off tuition. |

Bellistri is a great coach, he is getting the most out of the squad this spring and the seniors have a ton of leadership. They are the clear favorites to win the IAC.
On the other side of the bracket, expect an all-out battle between Landon and GP this afternoon in Rockville. Expect a 1 - 2 goal game between these bitter rivals. It will be interesting to see which coaching staff makes adjustments from last week's game. Bears 9 Hoyas 7 Bullis 10 STA 5 |

Isn't it time for play off smack talk now?
The all star drama can wait until trophies are given out. Rankings are now irrelevant because it will actually be decided on the field. Well except for that IAC/WCAC thing, but at least we are about to be down to two teams. |
Silly post. First less than 3% of all HS players go D1 it is always an high bar to achieve. Ivy teams have always been strong at lacrosse and never give athletic money. Playing at the highest level has 0 to do with how college is paid for. |
