I think sponsors need to pull out. Of course, they just got a new one this week. Hopefully WAGS pulls it's sponsorship though. How can an organization like that support such misogyny and abuse?

Did CVS Health drop them?

NOPE. Not even close. They paid a low six figure sum to be a kit sponsor. The Spirit have wanted (and financially needed) a 7 figure long term sponsor to help fund the team. CVS Health could not commit to that when asked at the beginning of the year. That's all there is to that.

and now Lindsay Barenz is out as director of business operations--did she leave because of the gross incompetence or get pushed out for speaking out?

Dorrance is an advisor only. Whatever happened in the past is from 1998. Do people not deserve second chances? He is now quite religious. Watch/listen to Heath, Averbuch, Klingenberg, Dunn and others speak about him and you will see he is perfect for the job.

Lindsay is the BUSINESS head of the operation. She previously excelled at brand sponsorships with the NWSL. She remains a fan of the Spirit. She joined the board of directors with DC Scores (look them up if you don't know them). One of the new organizing investors with the WS is also on that board - so there is no drudgery between her and the team. It's a mutual sep that helps the Spirit save salary in the Front Office and she can pursue other interests that will be guaranteed long term vs. the on again off again tenure of soccer (she has not had a job of more than 2 years in her last 3 soccer gigs).

I applaud the Spirit for cleaning house in the Front Office while pushing forward with a competitive team

Definitely. Dorrance is a well-respected elder statesman of the game. What happened long ago was both long ago and not career-ending in the first place.

Like when Trump did all those things?

Dorrance getting defended for "being religious now" and "this was so long ago". This is the exact reason these things keep happening. That safety net for white males in sports must be nice. "A teaching moment "? I'd love to have half a million dollars of settlement money for all my teaching moments. When trying to find a replacement for an abusive coach, maybe a coach with a record of abuse isn't the best one to lead the search. Are you hiring a doctor with malpractice lawsuits to help you pick out your next surgeon?

As for the poster asking about WAGS, don't hold your breath. That "charity" is just a tool for the board to make themselves feel important in the soccer world and have access to a box when they're at home. Also, help pay for vacations to France.

Did anyone else think the free Jello Pudding with Bill Cosby’s image was a bit much at the game today at Audi Field?

Cmon people. You can’t change the stripes on a tiger! Once a bigot, always a bigot. Sorry but that’s a fact.

This organization needs a serious look from the top down.

If anyone has seen the documentary “A is for Athlete” then you will get a better understanding of how things can get covered up and out of control so fast.

Dorrance is too old. Plus he relies upon gobs of subs which you can’t do in real pro soccer. He’s an old white man, just like RB. Jesus, can’t they hire a woman coach? An ex-USWNT player maybe?

Who cares what color Dorrance is? Has nothing to do with his soccer knowledge or lack of.

These recent posts are a big part of what's wrong with American sports these days. Someone makes a mistake, and let's cancel them. No one is allowed to learn from mistakes? Once you make a mistake you're done - finished. Good bye.

Let's not hire a white male because they are a white male....let's go get a <fill in the blank> instead. What happened to finding the best candidate (regardless of their race/sex/etc.)?

Are we acting like RB was the best candidate? Canceling isn't real. Stop crying about it. Holding people accountable to their actions shouldn't be huge issue.

Dorrance wasn’t canceled, but that doesn’t mean we should forget or simply excuse what he did because he didn’t lose his job as ranting implied.
