Why do people hate Disney?

That's the way DCUM works. See a recent thread of an innocent poster looking for a nice hotel in Ocean City, MD. Thread turned into OC sucks, and the only proper beach trip is staying at a Four Seasons or St. Regis resort in French Polynesia.

Yup, and I frankly don’t even believe that the people claiming those resorts are the only way to go have ever even been there.

But maybe that’s just my experience — my parents took us on very expensive vacations (ex: National Geographic trips, Four Seasons all over the world, flying business class exclusively) but we also like a good trip to Disney.

I think people who have the money to actually do whatever they want can appreciate a range of experiences. It’s the people who have to scrimp and save for a nice trip who get the most obnoxious about it.

That's hilarious. Because it's so much easier to take a weekend trip to French Polynesia. Gotta love DCUM.

It’s the same sort of people who say they’d rather go to Africa or India for that cuisine than eat it at an African or Indian restaurant at Disney.

I mean, under that logic, why should anyone eat anything but American food here?

I know there is some people certainly feel superior over not liking Disney, but I don't understand why if I say "I prefer hiking and National Parks over Disney" or "I'd rather go to a museum" why do some people have such a hard time believing that's true? It's just how I feel. I'm not saying that because I think national parks are sooo much more "high brow" than Disney...that's just more my style. It has nothing to do with superiority.

Just because you feel that way doesn’t mean others do. As you say, some people have a superiority complex over it and that’s what we’re responding to.

I'd rather go to a national park or do something outdoorsy. I'm not a ride person and my kids were never really into Disney movies/characters.

Ok.

I prefer not to be brutalized by marketing while on vacation.

You sound unnecessarily dramatic.

I don't like rides.

Would rather go hiking, to the beach, a museum, or sightseeing in a city.

Don't like crowds.

It's expensive, and I'd rather spend that money on somewhere I really want to go to.

You don’t like crowds, but you’re ok with them in a city or a museum?

I'm completely creeped out by people in character costumes.

This would be a good time to go, as they won’t come near you and you can run away pretty quickly from the ones that do come though periodically.

I don’t really get this deep love of it and having weddings but oh well! Not my weddding.

We like nature ... and Disney!

That’s nice..everyone has different interests. I’m just not into Disney. It would make life more unpleasant for the real Disney lovers if EVERYONE loved it Soo you’re welcome lol.
