ACPS- Changing from Hybrid to DL?

I am not sure what this issue is. I also am not sure how many parents want their children to return hybrid but have not been allowed. I am not in that situation but I think it is fair game to highlight what ACPS did in going back on its December 2020 representations.

+1 Short attention spans. I am glad. This was getting nasty. Now they can harp on something else.

Is it the Taylor’s Run restoration that you are referencing? I am sorry but I am trying to understand the reference.

I am not sure what you are accusing me of. Being critical of ACPS is fair game. Not sure why thinking that makes me bad. Not sure what I think of the Taylor’s Run issue.

How are ACPS returning families feeling about lunch indoors, the inability to open windows, etc? Seems other strategies (fresh outdoor air) would provide better mitigation than prohibiting use of playgrounds.

Yes - teacher here considering if I should ask my admin if I can take my kids outside for lunch. I feel like they are so overwhelmed now - they will say no right away because too much to organize, but I would really prefer it and will be nicer for the kids too. Annoyed by the window thing, but there's not a window that opens in the classroom I'm in anyway.

What is the issue with Chinquapin? Is it the rec center?

You sound like a very sweet and caring teacher. I'm sure your students will be so happy to see you, whether you can go outside or not. I think it's great that you're pursuing that--the parents of your students are lucky to have you.

Agree. They may be worried about extra movement through the building although I do think it sounds nice if it can happen. Maybe it depends on how close you are to the exit outdoors and if there is a safe place outdoors where you all can eat? I hope it works out for you! (a Parent)

You sound very caring. At least at GWMS, if the teachers can get the kids back in time for their next class, they can take them to eat lunch outside. That may be a big if, but it is theoretically an option.

You do sound like a very caring teacher. It makes me sad to know that if you are a teacher at my child's school, you'd be told that it isn't equitable to the kids who are home. A teacher has already said that the kids in hybrid won't be allowed to use the books in the classroom because it isn't equitable to the kids at home.

I hope you have a better admin than we do and that this is successful.

You want teachers to do things that are inequitable? And you're casting shade on the principal who is trying to ensure that everything is equitable? Really?

That's disgusting and completely shameful.

Mediocrity for all!

Are you elementary? I know our principal has been working out a plan where the different classroom pods will have different outdoor locations for recess. If other classes start coming out for lunch time while other kids are out for recess it might be difficult to find outdoor space that isn't really earmarked for another class. I guess it depends how much outdoor space there is at your school.
