ACPS- Changing from Hybrid to DL?

Anonymous
You didn't receive any emails about it? You didn't receive any PTA newsletters about it? You didn't receive a Principal's newsletter about it? If you have an email on file at the school then you were contacted. Stop being a snowflake and demanding a phone call. Let the staff go after the people who don't have your same resources. Gosh some of you people are unbelievable.

I'm not demanding a phone call. I wasn't sending my kid back either way, so I DGAF if they call me or not. But, people are implying that all low-income, non-English speaking parents must have gotten a call to prompt them, and that's just not true.

But ACPS said the choice was NOT BINDING. That is the issue and ACPS chooses to ignore it.

This.

Sometimes I wonder whether people deliberately miss the point. No one is demanding a phone call. They said one thing; did another. Barely anyone is surprised.

Also, curious: are people still saying "snowflake"?

Apparently, there is one.

I think this person should also take up shadowboxing. There must be a rec league somewhere in Alexandria.

If I was a school board member I'd be scared to have my home address easily googled.

Looks like the bullies are out in full force this evening. You guys keep on making us proud to be Alexandrians. Way to go!

According to the GWMS back to school meeting, there is some sort of waitlist for families that did not select hybrid on the form, but now want to go back.

FYI--for those that did pick hybrid, cohort assignments are up in powerschool.

Well, I am freeing up a spot there. I don't feel comfortable with how it will be arranged. I can't believe that they only have five classroom monitors hired to supervise numerous kids in different grades together in the cafeteria and other swing space. It's starting in about two weeks. I dpn't blame anyone at GW - Mr. Mazur is great. I blame ACPS.

Thank you! I'm curious, did you get this information from your school or principal? Because I haven't seen anything beyond the stuff from the ACPS Express that our principal (George Mason) sent out. And that didn't have any new information about hybrid, it was the same stuff just repackaged.

No--I just randomly happened to be looking for something else in powerschool and stumbled across it.

Yes, in an email newsletter.

Huh. That's weird that ACPS communications aren't consistent.

Did something change or is this article wrong - see end of the article reporting that ACPS “has promised to offer every student who chooses it some form of in-person learning by mid-March.” Again, as far as I know, you can’t go hybrid now unless you selected it in the Non Binding form back in December 2020.

I think they are just using "chooses it" to mean "chose it in December and didn't change to virtual afterwards." Nothing has changed.

This has gone quiet since the SAHMs have now redirected their ire at Chinquapin. Too funny.
