Any discrimination is wrong. If we decide to tolerate "just a little", guess who gets shafted the hardest? |

At our university, they gave women engineering students guaranteed housing for all 4 years for free. Getting housing on campus was extremely difficult after your soph. year. I'd hardly call burdening male engineering students with thousands of more dollars in student loan debt running with interest only a 'minor' microaggression. It's flat out discrimination against a subgroup of engineering students because they have penises.
It's also terrible how bad society discriminates against men when it comes to childcare. You wonder why men seem to be less involved with kids? How many parents would let their kids be watched by a male nanny or have a male baby sitter? Nope. So many parents would automatically assume any male who works with smaller kids or in an elementary school must be a pedophile. Meanwhile, all of those teachers who constantly sleep with students are overwhelmingly women who get a slap on the wrist. If a male teacher sleeps with a student, they get way harsher sentences too. |
I'm not black but I have to wonder if all these PPs complaining about how white boys are experiencing micro-aggressions and discrimination- if someone could use magic do that your white son could trade places with a non-white boy or girl, would you choose to? Do you honestly think your white sons will have an easier life? |
You need to relax. Jeez. Your message is lost in the hysteria. Signed, Another black woman |
Sure. I doubt a white boy would experience much difference trading places with an Asian male other than potentially having a better chance a meeting a beautiful Asian wife. Also, the stats now say that if he traded places with an Asian person that his household income will be likely even greater than if he were white since Asians now have the highest household incomes in America. Amazing how a minority group can have higher household incomes and wealth than even white people in America even though there is the working assumption that the whole system is racist against all minorities, which is keeping them down. |
+1. |
You missed the point. Discrimination and institutional racism are two different experiences. The problem with the post that it equates white male fragility with institutionalized racism. Go tell Ahmaud Arbery about that t-shirt incident, both happened in 2020. Oh wait, he's dead. Hunted down and killed. Killed on camera. I had to explain the killing to my child. The thing is, I have to explain the advertising messages, on t-shirts, to my kid too. Or, the day that I came home upset because my white boss asked me to use the men's bathroom so that the women's bathroom could be saved for a white woman who was a cancer survivor. I never heard that you could get COVID-19 from a toilet seat in a different stall. |
Right. But.. Calm down. Geez. The hysteria.🙄🙄 |

One more bit of data re: the OP’s husband’s fantasies of “preferential “ hiring. https://hbswk.hbs.edu/item/minorities-who-whiten-job-resumes-get-more-interviews |
I'm surprised that NPR ran that story. It is en vogue to replace current management with all women in the govt. They even brag about it!

and if they do, the actors on TV have an accent or a character flaw. |
I am a white woman with sons and I’m angry as hell about the same things. |
So it would be ok if I ran around with my "Men Rule" t-shirt because it isn't killing anybody? I am sorry about your workplace, the entitlement of white women and COVID can't be fixed until we have some people willing to trust science instead of their grade school intuition. |
And yet Asian kids succeed wildly. I’m sure the people posting on this forum don’t even understand that this has to do with hard work, dedicated and devoted parents, and a good moral structure. |
