The problem with this approach is that the victim’s rights tend to be forgotten. So nope. Call police immediately.

Exactly

I WILL update if and when the criminals returns to OHS. I truly could not feel safe if they do!

If they do, I will petition the SB to remove them. If this were a knife that had been used to stab ;but not attempt to murder) another student, my reaction would be the same

1. Kid brought a weapon to school
2. Two kids used this weapon to assault another.
3. Other students held the victim against his will to ensure he could be assaulted

I have premeditation; I have felony assault, I have accomplice to felony assault.

No way could the school ensure a safe and secure learning environment if they allow these criminals to walk the halls.

Thank tou. Please do, we need to have some facts to hold the school system accountable.

If you know the victim’s family, please tell them to get a lawyer who can apprise them of their rights.

Agree.

There is no reason why fcps shouldn't move to online PE for all or most kids.

+1

PE is an outdated concept.

Weird that only the PTA sees the unfiltered version.

PTA should hold a community meeting about this! With Scott, Jamie, Doug, SRO, chief of police, DA. Why the heck not?! This was felony assault at our high school!

A large percentage of the student body know the peeps. Oakton freshman son rattled off 3 names. THEY are now being harassed on Snapchat.

*perps

GOOD.

The kids at Madison also know their names. The whole town knows at this point.

I have a kid at Chantilly who doesn’t know the kids but heard who they were in an EC that was discussing it. Oakton, Madison, Chantilly, etc all share the same screwed up feeder system, especially for AAP. I would never condone cyberbullying, and my kid is under strict instructions to leave it alone or rosk the phone being gone for the rest of the year. But I do wonder how they feel about the turnabout. Karma”s a thing.

Yeah, but this is the exact thinking that these perps had from their parents. Karma is for adults, not children. The school should have handled things properly from the BEGINNING. Parents should not have to go to the news to get justice. Most victims do not want to be tried again by going to the police, and FCPS banks on this. The parents had no choice - FCPS backed itself into a corner, and this is what happens. FCPS is probably going to be sued over this, and I think they know it. These perps knew that PE time (or lunch time, or in between classes - as I have seen) was a free for all. FCPS really needs to step it up and stop only caring about protecting themselves, because it is glaringly obvious.

I hope this changes how FCPS fails to handle matters - the victim blaming is out of control.

Well said.

My child's middle school (not FCPS) has TWO teachers in the locker room with students.

So proud of those parents for getting the news involved! That was a tough choice, and I am thankful that they did it. Their child was a victim. Vienna and Oakton families and kids have rallied behind him. Hugs to the family and boy.

Thank you, PP. Do you know who contacted the police? School or parents?

None of this means FCPS didn’t start investigating before the 29th.

This is wholly unacceptable and infuriating if true. This was a violent assault that should have been reported to the police immediately. Shame on FCPS if it wasn’t reported to the police right away. Shame on FCPS for waiting until the knew they were going to be outed by the news before informing parents. These kids should be arrested. I saw one FCPS representative interviewed by the news say that the victim was “ok”. Perhaps the victim is physically ok, but there is no way he is psychologically ok — I wouldn’t be ok if I was attacked in the workplace the way the victim was at school.

Imagine if you went to the bathroom at work and were attacked with a dangerous by 3-4 of your colleagues, and then held hostage in the bathroom while tortured by the same colleagues with that weapon, all while other colleagues are laughing and videotaping the incident. What would you do? If you could, you would beat the #*$& out of your colleagues the minute you could, but most likely you would call the police.

If FCPS didn’t call the police as soon as they understood that a stun gun was used on a student, they failed miserably.

The prior post literally says the police were notified on the morning of January 24th.

You ought to read before posting even more of your hyperbolic rants.

This is so scary!! My kids are in elementary but I’m terrified of sending them to high school! We’re in the Chantilly HS zone.

Are private schools any better or do they have bullying and drug dealing too?

Is this story also being covered by the Washington Post? If not, it should be. As a community member, I don't want this to go the road of the band assault path. This is a county wide issue and FCPS should be held accountable for their negligence in keeping students safe on their watch.
