This. I hear my coworkers and neighbors rave about their Disney hotels and Disney cruises but it never had the appeal for me. When my kids were little, they were equally happy with cheaper/closer sesame place and Dutch wonderland, and now that they’re older we do more nature adventure stuff.

I don’t get where you are finding the small US population of Karens from Myanmar and Thailandr to be racist (or basic)?

Are you claiming that they are afraid to travel outside of the western world because they may encounter oppression if they were to return to their homelands?

I think you may have a reading comprehension problem. No one is talking about immigrants who fear to travel home.

+1. They’re talking about people who have never ventured beyond Florida yet deem entire continents dirty and ugly.

India- I have always been interested in going, but many coworkers from India have said I am too sensitive/ will not have any fun due to overwhelming poverty.
Israel, not that I know anyone who has gone there for vacation who was not visiting family
South America- stray dogs/ big spiders. No way.
China/ Japan/ Hong Kong/ Singapore/ Korea

I’m South American and I can understand why someone wouldn’t want to visit (personal safety/crime) but dogs and big spiders? That’s news to me.

STRAY dogs. I get very upset by homeless animals. I would spend my whole visit trying to find them homes, and that is not a vacation. And the spiders- I am scared of anything bigger than a dime.

I don't think they are strays, but outside dogs. Most are friendly, fed dogs that someone or neighbohood is caring for. Now if there are pack of stray dogs, then I would be concern/nervous.

NP. Can't speak for all of SA, but I spent much of grad school in Chile and stray dogs were common (and sometimes scary). Also, poisonous, though not necessarily large, spiders were something locals warned us to be ware of.

Um no, stray dogs are very common throughout Central and South America, and yes, even in packs. I observed this in Costa Rica, Venezuela ( by far the most common and distressing), Colombia, Ecuador ... ( don’t remember many stray dogs in Peru, however). They were much more common in rural areas, often living around town trash dumps right outside of cities. Most countries do not have the same intensive neutering and animal control programs we do.

That being said, I love traveling in South America , but cannot deny that one will run into stray dogs ( many malnourished ). This is one of many reasons some people prefer cruises and resorts.

Internationally - China, India, Jamaica

wait. There's hype surrounding vacationing in Arizona? I'm from the east coast, lived there for the first 35 years of my life. I never heard hype about it while I was living there. I now live in California, and STILL no hype about Arizona. What are you talking about?

The Grand Canyon is literally one of the most magnificent natural beauties in the world — yes there is hype over it.

PP said Arizona - not The Grand Canyon. Yes I know where the Grand Canyon is located, but I've never heard anyone say I GOTTA GO TO ARIZONA! They say I GOTTA GO TO THE GRAND CANYON! These are two totally and completely different animals, all together.

You sound like someone’s who lived in Arizona yet never experienced Arizona outside of Phoenix. PLENTY of people want to go to Arizona for the different parks and scenery. Sedona, Tucson, Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, etc.

This is an interesting thread. Honestly I can't think of a place that I wouldn't want to travel to at least once. But there are a lot of places that I sadly need to decline because of safety reasons, at least this point in time, especially traveling as a woman.

They are nothing alike.

I don't think they were saying Atlantis and WDW are alike. They were listing two separate places they wouldn't want to go: Atlantis and WDW
