You people are idiots. Thailand? Japan? Malaysia? Singapore? Really?

Bangkok gets more visitors per year than Paris or London. Food in Western countries is bland and you have to pay exhorbitant prices in Europe for almost everything. Also, Europe is a lot trashier and dirty than many parts of Asia. You can almost eat off the floor of the trains in Japan. Plus, Europe is crime ridden and dangerous when compared to countries like Singapore or Japan. Japan was absolutely spotless and the most safe country I've ever been to. Plus one of the most beautiful.

There is a reason why more people go to Bangkok than Paris. The food is outstanding in Thailand. The beaches are some of the best in the world. It is still affordable. It has huge infrastructure for tourists. I've been to Thailand almost a dozen times and go back even more.

People don’t go there for the action, they go to relax on the beach.

+1. The people who don’t enjoy just relaxing at the beach are those that freak out at having to spend consecutive days at home with their children and must plan an outing. Some people are afraid of their own company.

Or it could just be that the beaches and water around here are gross and ugly.

Lol

Yup So ugly

Those pics are gorgeous! We clearly are of different minds when it comes to beautiful beaches. Please now post another picture of what makes your beach better.

Anonymous wrote:Pretty much anywhere in Europe more than once and some places even once. I've lived in Europe and been all over it. I really don't get the excitement about the culture or the architecture. Someone the other day recommended Vienna (Austria, not VA) to another poster and man I have NEVER been to such a boring city when mediocre food. I honestly think Vienna VA might be better.

Paris and Rome were fairly decent. There are are a few old monuments or tours worth seeing. The countryside of Italy, France and Switzerland are *ok* but get old quickly. Greek islands are nice but the water in the mediterranean is WAY too cold to swim in, so beaches quickly become no fun.

Eastern Europe need not even be mentioned. Just don't go unless you want to get raided by gypsies.

The food in Europe isn't even that great. Contemporary american cuisine has largely surpassed the famous traditional European restaurants. You have to hit at least a 2 michelin star restaurant to experience something you can't find in DC.

London is like America but with people saying "c*nt" more often and with food options consisting of sausage, beer, and indian food.

Belgium has some street liege waffles and stronger beer, but I can make liege waffles here at home.

It's to the point now where the only city I'm maybe up for going to is Amsterdam because you can smoke weed there. But you can probably do that here soon too.

You are either a troll or an idiot. Or smoked too much weed. Best if you just stay here and don't leave the country.

Meh. I go to the beach to take long walks, swim, fish, do a little body surfing, or just lie on the beach and listen to the waves. Those were scenic, but nothing particularly intriguing about them from the standpoint of someone who likes to go to the beach, not just take pretty instagram photos.

Any place requiring a passport. Plenty of stuff to see and do here in the homeland, and, you know, I’m walking the walk for climate change.

agree on Disney, Vegas, Mexico, and East Coast beaches
European cities (especially in summer, too crowded)
China
Egypt, Israel, Middle East generally
Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Caribbean resorts generally

Disney- I can not understand families that go every year. There is so much more to see in the world. Plus I can do without crowds of people. No way am i waiting in line fore 2 hrs for a ride and I find the idea of planning and having to book rides and meal ahead of time very off putting.

You are Disney wrong. Anyone with a clue doesn’t wait two hours in line.

Why? I’m just curious. I’ve never been but want to go.

NP. I'm a French speaker and France lover and would recommend trying some other parts of France - Lyon and the French Alps, or Provence and the South of France. I do enjoy Paris but find myself enjoying these areas much more. Less touristy.

Go to Bretagne or Brittany. We went to see the megaliths. It's a really cool environment. There's lots of pine trees and everything feels a little bit haunted somehow:
