That's so neat! We did alaska on land too but only had time for 4 days. It was a tag on for my husband's work trip so we didn't see too much! can you tell me your route? Would you do this with younger kids, 4 and 6? |
Any cruise. Anything Disney. |

So utterly out of touch. Most people-myself included-could only dream of visiting some of these places. |
This is hilarious |
I wouldn’t mind going to many of these places. But after traveling a lot before age 50 now I don’t like the travel part of travel. I’m ok once I’m there. |
A lot of bumping on a very old thread.
I’ll say Las Vegas. |
Me too, but I’m only 39, lol. I am currently a local living in a beach destination and so I am probably spoiled for good now. |

I have a feeling that lots of the anti-Mexico people don't know about Mexico City. CDMX is a very hot destination for sophisticated adult travelers. If you're into history and art, it's amazing. It's also a foodie paradise. And do you really drink tap water in other foreign countries besides Mexico? I don't even drink unfiltered tap water in USA cities because I have a sensitive stomach. As far as hotels are concerned, Mexicans know how to do luxury really, really well. https://www.cntraveler.com/gallery/best-things-to-do-in-mexico-city

I've got very little interest in visiting the Asian countries, the former Soviet union countries. Most of the Middle East is not that compelling for me even though we have family there. I don't understand the appeal of Cabo San Lucas at all.
I'm not sure about the fixation on the state of Arizona on this thread. I've already hiked down to the bottom of the Grand Canyon and eaten the steak dinner at Phantom Ranch, and I'd go back there with my teens in a heartbeat. I don't have an interest in those big ocean cruises but those Viking River cruises look great for older people. I love the idea of seeing lots of different European cities without having to unpack every time you arrive someplace new. And an ocean cruise on a small boat of about 50 people is appealing. |
I have to chuckle at people who write off entire countries and even continents. Honestly, outside of exceptionally dangerous places, there is NO place I wouldn't go to at least once. I love to see and experience different topographies, flora/fauna, lifestyles, music, food... Some of the places that I have enjoyed the most were ones that were completely off my radar and places I wouldn't have picked on my own. |
I didn't know that we were writing off locations. The OP asked which popular vacation destinations we're not interested in, not which places we'd never be willing to visit. In fact, they even mentioned that some places might still be worth visiting if someone else paid. Well, that's how I read the OP. |
