We can punish the leaker at our leisure thereafter. Or congratulate him on catching something impeachable, but also train him on the due process of whistle-blowing. Or whatever. But the POINT IS THAT WE CATCH IMPEACHABLE OFFENSES TO ENSURE THEY DO NOT RE-OCCUR.

If this was a Democratic President, some of you posters would have no problem understanding this

There is NOTHING impeachable here. That doesn't mean the Dems won't try.

Abuse of power is impeachable, as is the coverup.

Maybe someone else will but I won’t. I’m appalled that the Times made this decision in the face of death threats by the President.

You have got to be kidding. Death threats? My God you people really do know how to be hyperbolic.

You are part of the problem when you don't see anything wrong with the president comparing the whistleblower and his sources to spies and then alluding to spies being executed for treason. It doesn't even matter if it's a joke, which I'm sure you and all his excuse-makers will declare, it's completely inappropriate.

Read his damn words.
He was talking about the leakers. That is clear.

I get so tired of the liberals here making statements that are blatantly false and stating them as if they are fact. You all claim to be so intelligent and worldly, yet you cannot even get facts straight. This shows a lack of intelligence.
Or, you are so full of hate that you INTENTIONALLY spread false information. It is one or the other.

You're nuts. Trump clearly made a death threat against the whistleblower. Have you read his damn words?

- DP

He. did. not.

Please explain what this means:
“You know what we used to do in the old days when we were smart with spies and treason, right?” he added. “We used to handle it a little differently than we do now.”

Tell us, what did they used to do in the "old days" with "spies and treason" that we aren't doing today?

This is the kind of $hit I am talking about. You INTENTIONALLY left of the first sentence....

“I want to know who’s the person who gave the whistle-blower the information because that’s close to a spy,”

And, he's right.

You say spy, I say patriot.

Edward Snowden fan, I see.

You are totally confused. Edward Snowden did everything the wrong way. There whistleblower is doing everything the right way.

The whistleblower is an intelligence analyst, someone whose job it is to be precise and to verify information. You are projecting again, but intelligence analysts do not make shit up the way the Trump people do.

Now. Ask yourself how you know this. It is supposed to be kept private, but someone leaked it.

My guess is that it was Schiff.

DP, but wait, you think Schiff leaked information to the whistleblower so the whistleblower could make the complaint?

Lobbyist Jack Burkman & Jacob Wohl—recently-indicted on felony charges—are offering a $50,000 reward for info on the national security whistleblower behind complaint alleging Trump solicited foreign interference in call with Ukraine's president Zelensky

Doesn’t this violate Wohl’s probation?

Probably.

Trumpsters trying really really hard to distract people. Blame the whisteblower instead of looking at Trump and his abuse of power and coverup. If there is corruption in the WH, someone should blow the whistle, but not for Rs and Trump, it seems.

Yup. And dollars to donuts the WB is someone with an impeccable background of service and fidelity to country over party. God bless that individual.

And allegiance to the CIA, who hasn't been too up and up these past three years.

What leakers? Where was the leak? This all happened in the regular course of business at the White House. Right under their noses out in the open. That's what whistleblowing is -- a report from the inside gathered in the course of one's job. That's why it's called a whistleblower. The information gathered by the whistleblower was not from leaks, it was from that person doing his/her job with people also doing their jobs. Trump calling government employees doing their jobs "spies" who should be offed in the old fashioned way is chilling.

Let me explain to you.....

Somebody who had listened to the call or had access to the call passed the content of the call to someone who WAS NOT part of the IC. That person is the whistleblower. That person got the information third hand. The person who passed the information is leaking. It is as simple as that.
If the person listening to the call or reading the transcript had issues.... THAT person should have filed a complaint. Not passed it on to a third party.

A phone call to a foreign leader is ordinary business. Or at least it usually is.

It's not the whistleblower's fault that Trump is a criminal. That's only Trump's fault.

Moving the goal posts I see.

Somebody leaked. And, that person should be found and charged.

And, Trump has done nothing CRIMINAL. That is your take because that is what your side is feeding you.

What is "feeding me" is the whistleblower report. I think you've read it and didn't like it and that's why you're feigning ignorance of it.

I read the whole thing.
And, remember this is hearsay. That way, the whistleblower can claim that is what he was told - even if what he wrote wasn't true. Convenient.
And, I suspect that is why the person passing the information got someone else to fill the role of whistleblower.

If you cross reference dates in the report with news reports, Rudy's tweets, Trump's tweets and the contents of the July 25th phone call, so far, everything checks out.

How convenient!

Wonder what else the whistleblower got wrong.

Counselor to the State Department Ulrich Brechbuhl was NOT on the
@POTUS
call with #Zelensky, as the whistle blower complaint states.

More up and up than Trump.

We just spent several pages arguing with a crazy person about what the meaning of the word ‘is’ is. That is a distraction from the real issues, and a preview of the next several months. Republicans will do their best to complicate and obfuscate what is actually a pretty straightforward situation. And Trump supporters will never accept reality.

The lack of a basis to question its accuracy is grounds to question its accuracy?

Well, since there was no abuse of power and no cover up, then there is no there there.

How on earth can anyone defend Trump?! It boggles the mind. If Trump was a Dem, conservatives would draw and quarter him.
