Kim Cattrall SJP feud

You can't equate this to Average Joe workplace stuff. You just can't. SJP has tried to make Cattral look bad publicly/in the press/in the industry for years. She went out of her way to drag the CHARACTER of Samantha through the mud as well. As an executive producer, she did ridiculous things to Samantha.

Anyway, if SJP had reached out to Cattral *privately,* we might not have heard a peep about this. But she didn't. She freaking Instagrammed. It's just so declasse.

But it was just a comment, right?!? Not a separate post! I don't get why that is classless!

Nixon also reached out via IG as well and Kim responded back to her. Sooo...I guess she is déclassé as well? However, we do not if either of them reached out privately or not. I am going to guess neither did. Either way it was still a very nice gesture of both ladies.

Nixon also CALLED: http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/tv/news/kim-cattrall-sarah-jessica-parker-cynthia-nixon-sex-and-the-city-brothers-death-social-media-fight-a8206086.html

I don't think that article got it right: "It appears that Nixon may have called Cattrall rather than posting on her social media, which is how Parker chose to express her thoughts." That's not true. We can all see Nixon's post on Instagram under Cattrall's post. Maybe she called in addition to posting, but that's not what the article says.

After college, I worked for Pat Field as a wardrobe assistant on this show. I essentially was a seamstress and spent a ton of time shopping for vintage things that Pat would declare garbage until I eventually would stumble on a few workable pieces.

In terms of tailoring, first of all, the women all of them were tiny. I spent hours tailoring outfits on the principals (and others).

First, Kristin Davis is a sweetheart. She was always so, so nice. Second, Catrell was professional and quiet. She was appreciative of the time we took and was very respectful. Cynthia hated the amount of the it took to tailor things and eventually worked it out with Pat to avoid tailored outfits as much as possible (btw that's one reason her clothes were a mess). SJP...well, she was the boss. Everything was contingent on her approval and if she didn't like it, you were in trouble with Pat. If you were too slow, you got in trouble. If you were too chatty, too familiar, etc. She was not what I'd call nice, but she was very serious.

In terms of social dynamics, from what I saw SJP and Nixon were close. Davis was sort of friendly with everyone and Catrall and SJP/Nixon did not get along. At all.

SJP is liked by celebrities, and she gets along with Davis and Nixon. Seems plausible that Catrall is the one with the issues. Isn't she single and childless? And didn't her brother just commit suicide?

I don’t like Kim Catrall but I hardly think she should be criticized for being single, childless, and having a family member commit suicide.

Those things point towards the possibility that she is difficult, stubborn, etc. and is more likely the one at fault in the rift with happily married, well liked SJP.

I know plenty of single, childless women who are fabulous. But that doesn't mean Catrall is...particularly since we've all seen her personality in interviews. And the brother who committed suicide likely had mental health issues. Mental health issues are often genetic or connected to childhood trauma. Again: that points to Catrall being the one with issues rather than SJP (who overcame childhood adversity).

Catrall is done with Hollywood. She's let herself go and has no interest in acting. Fortunately, she doesn't need the money.

Let herself go? The woman is 61 and at least in the last movie still looked pretty damn good. Let's see what you look like at 61.....or now.

The thing about that show is that it was groundbreaking FOR ITS TIME. It really was original in that you had women really talking about sexual experiences and relationships in a way that wasn't singularly focused on finding a husband and happy ever after. You also had different female perspectives -- some more sexually adventurous than others -- and none were treated as better or worse.

Where the show went wrong is in the last season or so when it did become about getting married and having kids, when it was no longer okay to be single, as in they all had to end up in relationships in order to be complete. I thought that went against everything that made the show interesting. In the earlier seasons, you had single women who were pretty happy with their single lives. Relationships with men were interesting, but those women weren't defined by them.

As for a movie without Samantha, it wouldn't have worked. Whether you liked or hated Samantha, she added both a levity and an edge to the show that really gave it its kick. She was essential. I also think that she was the best actress in the show.

As for tension between them, I don't really care. It's a show. I don't need for them to be friends IRL. I don't know why people are fixated on that.

I largely agree with you on your analysis of where the show content went wrong. But there’s another huge component: The show just went nuts with money and materialism in the last few seasons and in the movie. It was no longer potentially obtainable and aspirational. It was Trump-type gaudy, and it ceases to be relatable.

They totally forgot why women originally fell in love with the show.

So well said. The movies were grotesque. In fact the 2nd one is still one of the only movies I've ever gotten so mad with that I walked out of the theater LOL.

Aging well? She was never attractive in the first place. SJP looks like a horse and is one unattractive woman. She has nice figure, but she has a face that only a mother could love.

What happened to women uplifting other women? You sound terrible.

She's grieving for ffs and SJP does seem pretty obsessed with projecting a nice girl persona. She should have expressed her condolences privately if they were sincere!

Where is the IG post from SJP that is as rude at KC?

"Dearest Kim, my love and condolences to you and yours and Godspeed to your beloved brother. Xx."

The issue is that while I'm totally okay with believing that SJP is fake or that they have bad blood between them, Kim's response just makes Kim look bad.

This. Kim should have just completely ignored SJP's very gracious post, because she's only made herself look bad.

"Very gracious post" HAHAHA. One line on an IG post is your idea of very gracious? Wow, lucky Kim!

Something I don't understand. If they were not friends in real life, why is KC mad that SJP wasn't "nicer" in the negotiations for a SATC third movie? It's a business negotiation between people who are not friends. What's her problem?

Personally, I think SATC is over and done with. The movies were terrible. If they insist on making another, just leave KC out. Have her out jet-setting with people bringing her up once or twice. I don't think Samantha, in particular, made the show and I wouldn't miss her at all. Actually, I don't miss any of them and think they should live on in late night reruns and stay off the big screen.

Samantha brought storylines to the show that none of the other 3 could. I agree with a pp that she absolutely should have been paid what SJP was.

+1

Right? I’m so confused why anyone can fault SJP in this situation ALONE.

Because the fact here is none of us know what actually happened between these women and likely never will.

I dislike SJP because she seems controlling and fake. She very much wants to look like the nice, cool girl. I've worked with b!tches like her and they're irritating. I think Kim broke and it's understandable. She's in pain and her reaction was very real. Fakers like SJP is always want to be the center of attention. I'm glad she got put in her place for just a second, but i'm sure she's basking in the glow of her "poor me" attention.

Look, obviously their relationship is strained. The gracious thing would not have been to post a flipping IG comment, which is about the bare minimum one can do, and instead perhaps send some lovely flowers with a sincere note. Or even just a personal note for that matter. If someone I had bad blood with posted that to me I'd prolly tell them to f off as well. It's tacky and insincere, not to mention just being showy for the audience for someone you know doesn't like you.
