Kim Cattrall SJP feud

After college, I worked for Pat Field as a wardrobe assistant on this show. I essentially was a seamstress and spent a ton of time shopping for vintage things that Pat would declare garbage until I eventually would stumble on a few workable pieces.

In terms of tailoring, first of all, the women all of them were tiny. I spent hours tailoring outfits on the principals (and others).

First, Kristin Davis is a sweetheart. She was always so, so nice. Second, Catrell was professional and quiet. She was appreciative of the time we took and was very respectful. Cynthia hated the amount of the it took to tailor things and eventually worked it out with Pat to avoid tailored outfits as much as possible (btw that's one reason her clothes were a mess). SJP...well, she was the boss. Everything was contingent on her approval and if she didn't like it, you were in trouble with Pat. If you were too slow, you got in trouble. If you were too chatty, too familiar, etc. She was not what I'd call nice, but she was very serious.

In terms of social dynamics, from what I saw SJP and Nixon were close. Davis was sort of friendly with everyone and Catrall and SJP/Nixon did not get along. At all.

Im at work so I can’t post but will share a story or two after putting my kids down for the night.

More! More!

Thank you for your understanding

She's grieving for ffs and SJP does seem pretty obsessed with projecting a nice girl persona. She should have expressed her condolences privately if they were sincere!

Where is the IG post from SJP that is as rude at KC?

"Dearest Kim, my love and condolences to you and yours and Godspeed to your beloved brother. Xx."

The issue is that while I'm totally okay with believing that SJP is fake or that they have bad blood between them, Kim's response just makes Kim look bad.

This. Kim should have just completely ignored SJP's very gracious post, because she's only made herself look bad.

"Very gracious post" HAHAHA. One line on an IG post is your idea of very gracious? Wow, lucky Kim!

But this entire thread is about how SJP was so classless to post that one line. Now you want her to do more?

Look, obviously their relationship is strained. The gracious thing would not have been to post a flipping IG comment, which is about the bare minimum one can do, and instead perhaps send some lovely flowers with a sincere note. Or even just a personal note for that matter. If someone I had bad blood with posted that to me I'd prolly tell them to f off as well. It's tacky and insincere, not to mention just being showy for the audience for someone you know doesn't like you.

If KC meant what she said to SJP on instagram, a note or flowers wouldn't have been welcome either. She didn't want SJP to acknowledge it at all. Stop pretending there was some "right" way SJP could have sent her condolences without upsetting KC.

What if your coworkers leaked fake stories to newspapers about you being greedy and holding up the work?

The "work" ended almost 9 years ago.

I'd say it was time for my former co-worker to let some shit go.

They are still pressing KC to do a 3rd movie. Somebody is not letting go.

SJP is still making this a focus of current media appearances. She’s making it central with interviews.

I think it’s unbelievably nasty to call someone unhinged repeatedly, especially when she’s mourning. That’s what good girls do, clearly!

I agree. Her brother committed suicide. He left behind a family with children. She is understandably upset and sad and angry and hurt. Calling her unhinged shows no compassion for her grief. It’s such a cold word to use for someone who is clearly suffering.

PP who worked as at the show (DH is reading to the kids so I've got 30 to dish).

First of all, I cannot say how much of an amazing human Kristin is. My mother got seriously ill during shooting one year, I had taken two weeks off during filming and she was the one person who sent flowers to me and she wrote me this amazingly kind note. I STILL send her holiday cards. She's just a lovely, lovely person.

Kim was extremely professional. I think that's exactly how I would describe her. She isn't the character. She's much more reserved. She was quiet and she was kind. She (and Kristin) was actually the easiest to tailor for since her proportions didn't buck common fabric cutting too much. She was taller, though. One fun fact: they used capris a lot because we often had pants that were too short. Pat just decided to turn them into capris.

But tell us, PP, was or wasn't SJP a b*tch?? And who do you think is at fault in this feud?

Thanks for these fun insights! That's so nice about Kristin Davis. She seems nice both on and off-screen; good to know that's the case in reality!

Can you tell us more about Patricia Field? It sounds like she was very decisive and quick. Did she have a really strong, innate sense of "that works for Charlotte" or "that's right for Carrie"? It's amazing that she created four such strong character looks, so consistently, for so many years.

Yep. Also any diva like behavior you were aware of on set?

Not the pp, but I have a cousin who's a producer and worked with SJP on a project (not SATC). I texted him earlier this evening to get his take on this thread, and he said he doesn't think she's a bitch, he thinks she takes her work very seriously, is very detail-oriented, and is a perfectionist about anything with her name on it. I can see why that might rub someone the wrong way if they're on the wrong end of it and might be interpreted as bitchiness, especially if you don't have a relationship outside of work, but it's not the same thing.

Lowly wardrobe person here. I agree with this. SJP was a professional. Oddly, in my life now working in corporate marketing, I can see what an interesting tight rope she was walking.
