Why do you keep posting female DA results? What is your end game? If anyone cared they can look it up themselves. You have a screw loose |
PP here. You should change clubs. They're not all like that. |
There is a thread for this and the PP is correct, nobody cares. |
I posted the original question and the kids do move around to all the positions, but generally play 1-2. My son plays defense and midfield so I have no complaints. When it gets out of control, the coach experiments a bit more and I'm ok with that as well. But I'm on the fence about telling a team to back off or keep playing the game you were taught, build from the back and maintain possession, keep the field wide, and strike when the opportunity is there. Again, I'm not complaining about the club or coach so don't treat this as a gripe session. I feel bad for the team getting killed, but don't think telling the winning team to not play the way they were taught is fair either. Also to comment on development vs winning.....Devlopment is a buzz word and everyone wants to win, end of story. I think the thing that separates good coaches and bad ones are that some teach players: Play to win vs Win at all cost. I have no issues with playing to win, but be stay with your team strategy vs some clubs that teach "strategy", but toss it out when it's tournament time at which point converts to run and gun. |
10:19 - we have a similar problem - we have a few girls who are really, really good at forward positions, so i struggle with putting them on D or in goal, especially if the score is close. But the only way to get better at defending is to practice defending.
We have a couple of girls who always volunteer to play goalie. Which in one sense is great, since so many kids dread it. But part of me thinks they only enjoy playing goalie because they haven't gotten scored on yet, and they might not like it so much once that happens. (We put our best defenders in front of them when we have a less experienced goalie, so they're getting help.) The girls on our team who have actually been scored on were devastated when it happened. |
We have been on both sides of slaughters with our kids, and I've come to the conclusion that it's not worth it for the better team to bend over backwards to try to minimize the score. For sure the coach should do the simple things like rotating players into positions they've never played before, but beyond that I think both teams should simply play their best the way they've been taught, unless the coaches confer and agree on a different approach. The key is for the parents and kids on the dominant team not to celebrate, and for parents on the losing team to accept that sometimes you are just facing an unstoppable opponent and treat it like a clinic. My son's U9 team was completely outclassed this weekend (I think the final score was 9-1), but it was actually his best performance. After a few minutes of being discombobulated by the avalanche of goals, he stepped up, ran down their best strikers, and tackled the ball much more effectively than usual and probably prevented at least 3 or 4 goals. It was a great learning experience. It was also a wake-up call for the team, since they've done well in all their other games. Now they know there is a level much higher than where they currently are, and they have something to work toward. |
Thx, my DD is too young for DA, but interesting to hear who they are playing and the results without having to look this stuff up. It's comical that the haters beat you up for posting on an anonymous forum. They can just ignore it like most of us do here on things we don't care about. I don't respond to them either; I just ignore them! Keep on posting. |
I find it comical that with three DA's and 2 ECNL's everyone is mediocre.. No one can compete with markets that have less competition.

10:19 here. Compounding my problem is the other parents that expect and want my kid back there as a safety net. They often talk about the "winning line-up". If I have to watch the same two kids dribble the ball into the ground on wing, with their kick and run 'dribbling' (which nobody has bothered to teach or work on with them to keep it close to the body), the same forwards cherry-pick and never chase back--I might just lose my mind. I guess if my kid stopped trying to win the ball back he might also get to play forward more ![]() |
I think you are so nuts that you are actually acting as two posters |
What a great post. You must be really smart to write such in depth things |
Actually, not smart at all. Just acting like two different |
You need to get your head checked. You are an over the top parent who is on the verge of a mental breakdown. You are obviously a FCV DA parent because you didn't post jack when swept last week. |
Again, idiotic statement on so many levels. Who does your child play for? Let see if they can compete. Or...do you hide behind your anonymous states? |
I believe in a couple of years ECNL will drop off significantly and the overall local DA player pool will be much stronger overall. The kids who are still in ECNL are mostly in a good spot recruiting wise and there is no real reason to leave for an unknown in DA. ECNL will remain strong but by the time 06s come of age it will drop off in depth of talent. There will still be some really good players who choose that route, especially if High School is important to them. |
