NPL teams often put their B, C and D teams in NCSL. And this was literally the day before the season started. Not something clearly planned in advance. |
Did the former head of fpyc go to cya? |
DS was at CYA last year (2006) and we did not have a good experience, so we went elsewhere this year. The top team was good and Oscar did a great job of developing those kids. The improvement from beginning to end of season was dramatic. The lower teams had a much different experience. Several kids opted to go elsewhere - other travel clubs or back to rec. |
Ah, OK. So if the player doesn't make the top ECNL team, he can still do NCSL. That's good (and not how they first explained it!). Thanks! |
I heard he went to Fauquier. |
Plus the team that pulled out was definitely a D team...we are talking about Division 6. My guess is that enough of those players probably gave up soccer in late summer and they didn't have the numbers. |
Gunston typically has only an A team (and occasionally a B team). No such thing as C or D teams at Gunston. |
Yeah, Gunston has no other NCSL team in that age group. So the A team is in VPL and the B team is apparently extinct. |
I know BRYC's ODSL teams are run out of their rec department. I never get a straight answer on their NCSL teams. |
I just looked at the Boys ECNL schedule and didn't see BRYC in U13. They were there for U14+ though. I thought they were playing U13 too?

U15+ Virginia State Cup is underway. I'm not familiar with girls side, but it appears to be noticeably fewer boys teams participating than in recent years? How come? Why no group stage this year? |
Probably because NPL is also offering their own State Cup further diluting a already diluted and pointless tournament. |
Hmm. Don't know. Then maybe it's their A team playing in D4 of NCSL. That would be kind of odd. |
Same here! I don't understand how they are set up. Who are the coaches for these NCSL teams? Do they train with the other U11s and U12s who are 'pre-ECNL'? etc |
I heard they added a couple new U12 boys travel teams at BRYC but I'm not sure where they play. |
