Travel Soccer teams around NOVA let's discuss Part II

This thread is dead. RIP.

What is dead may never die. How bout that State Cup and Presidents Cup?

I don't understand many of the acronyms here.
If people still want to talk about it, what about travel soccer with Burke Athletic Club (BAC) vs BRYC?
We don't need to do anything crazy, and I care more about fun than prestige. Thanks!

Y'all are so naive. The reason for CCL using the club v club league format is to allow the soccer swingers network to have numbers every weekend. Its clearly not for the soccer. And the lack of a pro/rel policy is only to keep the hotter moms in circulation. Everybody knows that.

This thread has officially been derailed, but I prefer the humor over the stupid Spirit vs FCV banter.

Damn! Why did you do this?!?!! I successfully got them fighting in a new thread---and you have to bring it up?! I give up!

Hey, *I* started that thread!

And now I know why CCL exists, which is a valuable piece of knowledge.

After 530 pages of posts, the truth was going to come out. Although you cold have gone to post on Fairfax Underground, the answers arose after a few posts.

On that board, I would assume the answer had something to do with white supremacy.

So there parents saying "sent him/her" is some kind of swinger code?

there is plenty of BRYC bashing in these threads but we are having a good experience. There are two distinct programs- one travel program through the rec side that plays in the ODSL. The other is BRYC Elite which has the older girls teams in ECNL. The younger teams are not in a league but play teams in the area plus trips to Fredericksburg, Montgomery County and Richmond and in tournaments. It seems to be working well for both programs.

When has BRYC been bashed? BRYC is one of the most respected clubs in the area and most people agree with the clubs courage with how they have pulled their youngest ages out of clubs.

You are very sensitive then. People debated the pros and cons of pulling out of CCL and abandoning league play for their young “elite” teams. But it was necessary after they joined ECNL. BRYC simply is not big enough to field competitive teams in both leagues. That is not a bash or dig. BRYC is not a large club, so what, there isn’t anything wrong with that. Most people simply thought it was a bold move and discussed how they thought parents would react. That isn’t bashing. And as far as ODSL? Please, ODSL sucks but that doesn’t mean BRYC sucks for having some teams in ODSL. Loudoun has teams in ODSL, as well as Arlington does that mean that they suck?

Stop being so sensitive and worrying about what people are saying about your club.

Back to soccer thoughts for a min. What is your take on lop sided scoring. I was having this debate with another parent about what should happen when one team dominates the other.

Do you keep playing your game and score or do you start pulling players, force extra touches, etc. Our coach rotated players around, moving the goalie into Midfield, striker onto defense, etc. I'm ok with that, but my thought was if you start to force too many touches it starts to unteach the style of play that is taught during practice. If the scores really don't count at the younger ages, then keep playing your game and let players experience other positions on the field.

Thoughts?

My thoughts are that if your kid is younger than U14 and playing on a team where players are already slotted into positions, you should change clubs.

Re extra touches, again, if your kid is on a team where possession is not being taught, you should change clubs.

YES. My now U10 keeps getting slotted to the back because NOBODY on his team can do a decent job defending. My kid plays forward very well, in fact, better than the kids they put up there---but Coaches feel worse having those kids in the back since goals are let in.

WELL---how the hell do they think any of these kids are going to learn to play defense if they never teach them?!!! And now my kid is getting zero chance to stay a well-rounded player.

Btw, we no longer score because now we have a not-so-great offense filled with the kids that can't play defense at all and the good forwards in the back.

AND YES--I UNDERSTAND ALL OF THIS POSITIONING IS IRRELEVANT AT 8/9/10/11, etc. We need our kids to learn to play anywhere on the field in the developmental years.

So--damn coaches---listen the hell up!!

And this is a Club that prides itself on focusing on 'development' vs winning.
