Sherri Papini: Does anyone think it's a hoax?

I am not sensing hoax at all. I would like someone to explain to me why they think this is a hoax. what is it about the story that does not add up to you?

I am not trying to be argumentative, I genuinely want to know this.

Here's a few points:

Sheriff said they haven't ruled out a hoax.

Phone and earbuds appeared like they were placed by the side of the road, rather than dropped or thrown.

LE said they don't think the kidnappers pose a continuing threat to the community.

But I watched the 20/20 episode, and I believe her DH. If it's a hoax, he was not in on it.

you have a point there PP. In 2007 I was living in CO and there was a case about a woman who went missing. She was attractive, had kids and lived in a rural area. It wasn't until after she went missing that it was discovered that she had been living a double life. During the day she sold kitchen products and homemade baby products out of her home and she was also pretty active in the community and was part of a mom's group.

Turns out she also ran an escort business! She was killed by one of her clients. Found in 2012

Does anyone else think the photo of her and her husband is a bit creepy. She has the most bizarre look on her face while her husband is nuzzling her like he's so in love.

YES! I know the picture you are writing about. Super creepy. Many of the pictures are seem so fake - probably fueling critics / skeptics. They should have released more candid shots.

I believe the husband. That poor woman may have trusted the wrong person. And I can't help but wonder if she is a bit Gone Girl.

I am thinking hoax because of the way her sister responded when she was asked if Sherri was employed. She responded that she couldn't answer that. Why were her kids in daycare all day if she is out running? Why did she call her husband and ask if he was coming home for lunch when she hadn't done that before.

Not sure if "hoax" is the right word, but I think whatever happened was initiated by Sherri for some reason.

Branding the women is a trademark of traffickers. When they saw her face plastered all over the news and realized she was older than they thought she was (married with children), they needed to get rid of her and dumped her on the roadside.

This is exactly what I believe as well. She looks so much younger than she is, they may have thought she was a teenager at first glance.

This story is so awful it would be nice to believe it's a hoax, but I don't think it is. She was taken, beaten, burned, and dumped.

My teenage daughter runs alone and thinks it's perfectly safe. It's not.

I agree with both of you.

Nothing in the world is PERFECTLY safe. Your daughter lives with out fear. As long as she takes reasonable precautions, she should be fine.

This is not wholly accurate. PPs teen daughter doesn't have her prefrontal cortex fully formed. She is also in a developmental stage where she can't accurately perceive risk. She's young and truly believes nothing bad can happen to her. This is the trademark of the teenage brain and it's why teens die in such stupid ways when they do: they can't weigh risk because they think they're invincible. Her daughter doesn't run alone because she "lives without fear" as a choice or statement. She literally does not realize when she is unsafe or at risk. I remember running alone at 11 pm at 19/20 for the same reason. As a 30s mom I now know so much better.

So get her some reflective gear. The chances of getting hit by a car are much greater than being supposedly kidnaped by partially masked Latinas or whoever. And the risks of leading a depressing, unhealthy life are also greater.

Women are raped every single day. There are very remote portions of running trails where someone could assault you with absolutely nobody else around to intervene or witness. It's not about highly specific crimes like Sherri Papini's, just your average run of the mill HAPPENS EVERY DAY sexual assault or battery. A woman was killed just this summer running in daylight on a trail in Queens.

You need some anxiety meds. Literally millions of women jog daily without coming to harm.

I guess she got to be on 20/20 and media coverage.. $$$$ will be rolling in..

So odd. Why would her employment status be a secret? And I had the same reaction about the daycare. She is obviously doing something all day because no one runs THAT much.
