Look, it is not uncommon for fertility doctors to implant 5 or 6 embryos, because they want their success numbers to look good since that is what the public looks at. We need to put less pressure on them to have "good" results, so that less of this will happen.

It is uncommon to put back 5-6 embryos in a woman under 35. Shady grove's average in women under 35 is 1.5 embryos per transfer.
In a woman who has previous IVF success, they push incredibly hard for a single embryo transfer.
You speak oif "less pressure on them to have good results". The pressure when it exists is primarily patient driven. When you pay $15,000 cash for a single shot at IVF you want the absolute best odds of it working.
Perhaps this country needs to follow in the footsteps of England---where 1 embryo transfers are mandated but the government pays for IVF. Heck, if someone was paying for my IVF, I'd transfer embryos one at a time too!

I agree with 13:37 in that I honestly believe that most RE's have an end goal of a healthy singleton pregnancy carried to term for all their patients.

I really DOUBT that Nadya is a better person than us. We put some thought into having children, make sure we are financially solvent, have a source of income other than welfare, and make sure we will be able to give adequate attention to each child. It's not just about squirting out a litter of babies, feeding them and then ignoring them and then go onto have another litter, like street dogs and rats.

I think in the end it will be my/our business because the kids will become wards of the state bc the grandparents will either give up or die and then the single mental lady won't be able to care for her babies.

Plus although she denied being on welfare, she receives food stamps to the tune of $6 grand a year plus SSI on 3 other kids. Nothing like intentially having 8 more kids when you can't take care of the basic needs of the ones you have.

I understand why people are upset at having taxpayers foot this bill, but you are losing sight of the real point. This woman has 3 kids on disability and she just had 8 more? And one child is autistic. She can't possibly be tending to their current physical and emotional needs, much less when 8 more kids are in the house.

And she didn't tell her mother about the $160,000 she received, never contributed financially, and instead spent the money on plastic surgery and IVF.

This is so so sad. She is clearly mentally ill. The Dr who did this is to her should be punished. This isn't about freedom or reproductive rights; it is about a Dr who treated a mentally ill person for profit, without regard for the consequences.
