This was a real post on my neighborhood listserv

"This morning I was standing on the sidewalk with my child. An African American man drove by slowly and then stopped his car and spoke to me. I suspect he was casing the neighborhood. Please be alert!"

and then there would be a series of responses telling her she should have called the cops.

AU Park, holla!

You wouldn't, until someone takes a message that YOU post, and then you come on here and find it being discussed. Until then, carry on, carry on, meanwhile preach to your children about being kind to others, and showing respect for people's privacy. You're probably the kind of person who goes to church, too - ugh.

LOL, PP IS EITHER THE DOG BIT MY TODDLER LADY OR THE THE NO FIREWORKS AFTER THE DERECHO LADY FROM AU PARK.

Figures, good Lord, this is where I live.
The children of the bourgeoisie have no resiliency, and can make no mistakes. Bracing for an epidemic of "white collar' crime.

Let's hope there is some real leadership coming in the next generation from the Heartland Middle Class - a la Bill Clinton.

Okay, really? Clinton was a good president, but not sure I would hold him up as a role model for my children when it comes to personal conduct. Multiple affairs and a marriage maintained for business/political reasons. On the other hand he was never accused, at least that we know of, of pinecone assault.

OMG CAN YOU JUST SHUT UP? You don't know what you're even talking about wrt his marriage.

Are pinecones HFCS-free? Do any CSAs include them in their shares?

There's a line that you don't cross- when someone posts a message with their and their child's name on it. They are doing it in good faith that their kind neighbors won't publicly shame them as you are doing here.

Sure, the message is stupid, but I look more poorly on you, OP. I also think that the website admin should not allow this kind of posting that is a kind of "public shaming" for other messages that were posted in good faith that they would not be circulated for widespread ridicule.

But no one's name is mentioned. And all we know is what town it is from. I think you are way over reacting.

And all of the people on that list serve know who we are talking about, so no, this is not anonymous.

I am on that listserv, too, and OP's posting here made me very sad. I hope the mom being criticized does not know about DCUM.

I hope so too. She would be extremely sad. She is a very nice person.

You may find her to be "nice" but yeah, she was wrong to post it on the listserv--her motivations are certainly not nice. She wanted to shame this guy and she got served.

I think so, but they may come from a GMO plant. Not sure about gluten.

I prefer TJ's pinecones over Harris Teeter's

Was it one of those pinecones they sell in a bag for 50 bucks at Pottery Barn?

You get yours from a store? Gross. We get ours specially delivered from a family farm in the mountains of Montana.

You'd be crazy to trust the air quality in DC. Too many non-organic spores.

The neighborhood where they post a listserv message to DCUM so petty women can tear you to shreds and giggle behind your back. All the neighborhoods in Bethesda are roughly the same.

Completely agree. Is OP 13? I can't believe how classless this is. All time new low.

I find the pine cone lady to be the immature one here. She is the one acting like she was 13. OP simply copied her own email and further shared it.

OP is publicly humiliating her. She also posted that everyone was laughing behind her back. OP posted the email to have everyone pile on here at DCUM. DCUM is the site where the meanies are, after all.

Does that mean you are a meanie?

To me, that pine cone post epitomizes what is wrong with our society. If my son threw a pinecone and someone got angry and left without allowing him to apologize, I would think "wow, that guy's sort of mean," and move on with my life. I would absolutely not post a rant on my neighborhood listserv. Similarly, if my 6 year old son cried about it immediately afterward, I would comfort him briefly, but if he was "STILL" crying for any significant period of time, I'd tell him to buck up.
