What makes you say that a WISC will beat all the other test scores? Do you know that to be true?

GBRS this year 11-Accepted

Son is in 3rd grade. Was in pool last year, did not make it with a GBRS of 9, even on appeal. Could not pay for WISC last year or this year. Parent referred this year with same test scores (even the AAP at our school said scores were not what kept him out), letters from piano teacher, religion teacher, myself, and his lego club leader plus writing samples, photo's of lego creations, etc.

So in our case, the GBRS obviously made the difference. Happy we did not stretch our finances to pay for add'l testing. I thought a 12 seemed to be necessary, but in this case, 11 was enough. Mostly O's (some G's ) in academics. Behavior mostly S's, some G's.

Had a vm from the AART teacher saying DD was found eligible for Level IV services. Since the school also has level IV services (but is not a center), does this mean DD got in Level IV services for this particular school only? apparently the letter is in the mail.

That's a darn good question... Did anyone get a letter last year or in a prior year and know the answer? I would have thought that the eligibility letter for a student at a non-center Level IV school would discuss the option to attend the center.

No. She is eligible for either school. You can choose to go to your current school or center school.

There is no separate admissions policy for LLIV vs Centers. Some non-level IV children might be placed in a LLIV class to balance enrollment, but they are not "accepted" just placed for the year.

If my local school offers Local Level IV Services, what are my choices and how do I indicate my decision?
Parent/guardians of students at schools that offer Local Level IV Services have two choices if they wish their level IV- eligible child to participate in the full-time AAP (level IV) curriculum. The eligibility letter mailed to parent/guardians includes a Permission Form. Parent/guardians may elect to keep the child at the local school and receive Level IV Services OR request that the child be placed in the full-time AAP (level IV) center based on your FCPS street address.

If my local school does NOT offer Local Level IV Services, what are my choices and how do I indicate my decision?
Parent/guardians of students found eligible for full-time AAP (level IV) center placement are assigned to a full-time AAP (level IV) center based on their address. The eligibility letter mailed to parent/guardians includes a Permission Form. If your local school does not offer Local Level IV services and you choose not to send your child to the available full-time AAP (level IV) center, your child may participate in the school-based (level III) program at your local school.

What do I do with the Permission Form?
The Permission Form contains all necessary instructions. The form is completed and returned to the Advanced Academic Programs office by the due date.
