GT/AAP Decisions: JUST THE SCORES, PLEASE!

Agreed. This teacher's attitude is wrong, wrong, wrong! This is why they have an appeals system. Get that WISC-IV test happening.

She's in the pool but has average (slightly above) grades. Does my daughter have a hope of getting in AA given she's not above grade level?

I believe the person who immediately posted and replied "no hope at all" was being a just a little facetious. Your child obviously has a very high chance of getting into the program with those scores unless her teacher really has something against her. Even prepping wouldn't inflate scores to this level - not to mention it seems like many people prep.

PP here - sorry didn't see the thread saying you didn't prep - sorry to imply you may have (just seems like it is the norm on this forum).
BTW - many kids get into AAP who don't get all O's. The elementary grading itself is so subjective and I'm sure FCAP officials realize that.

My kid had lots of Gs and several Ss and still got in with barely pool-worthy scores (and GBRS 12).

How's your child doing in the program - esp. with the in class work?

which school and/or year was your child accepted?

My dd was admitted 2 years ago, she had all Os and Gs with one S in first grade.

Most teachers consider Gs to be solidly above average and are hesitant to give Os for anything that isn't nobel-prize worthy.

My child got into AAP with O's, G's and N's for Organization (basically having the messiest desk in class). Kid is still has a messy desk, but again getting O's and G's. Homework including reading and projects take up 30-45 minutes a night. Nothing too hard.

Not sure of the differences, unless you are referring to the WPPSI-III vs. the WISC III. The WPPSI-III is usually administered to younger children (ages 2 - 6). The WISC-IV is usually administered to age 6 and up.

You might want to check Hoagies page on testing:
