Iran did not have a navy or air force. They had a coastguard. Oh and in case you did not understand the lessons from this war and the Ukrainian war. Here is a big one. You do not need an aircraft carriers or air force. You just need $50,000 to buy or manufacture drones or missiles.

Iran’s 2nd tier leadership just beat the US and Israeli brain trust. Iran is now the leading power in the region. They did not even use their tier one missiles and Israel, the US, Saudi, etc got smoked. They will develop more and better missiles based on the data gathered during this war. The Chinese and Russian will ship in more anti aircraft systems with the Chinese provide better and cheaper ballistic missiles in much large numbers.

Iran is clearly the winner and will enjoy immense rise in prestige with countries through the world. Saudi, India, etc are now done with Israel. Israel will have to create a Palestinian state most likely out of Jordan.

Now let’s see which gulf states suffer regime change because that is what is coming. Kingdoms that lose wars fall. Also the gulf state will kick the US out of their countries and welcome in China. You know China? The power behind Iran.

He believes that acting like a bully and openly flexing American power is central to his negotiating and pressure strategy to get what he wants. I have been very critical of Trump for using this style against allies (for example, threatening to take Greenland, or arbitrarily raising tariffs), because it often alienates them unnecessarily and can be counterproductive. (I’m setting aside for now the fact that some of those same allies have proven very unreliable lately.)

However, this approach works much more effectively against rogue regimes and enemies. They genuinely believe he is crazy enough to follow through on threats that other leaders would never make. He has proven this with things like the Mauduro raid. That perception gives him a real edge in a game of chicken like the one playing out now. His over-the-top posts actually make it more likely that regime officials will look for an off-ramp with concessions, not less likely. So while you might dislike his style or find the threats inappropriate, the only questions that truly matter are whether he is prepared to follow through (probably not) and whether these threats help achieve a successful outcome.

This isn't a podcast debate. It's a war. And now that Trump has committed to it, he rightly wants to win it. Anyone telling you that isn't feasible and he should just give in without achieving America's objectives is intentionally deceiving you, and you might want to ask yourself why...

Including Oman gives Iran's control of the Strait of Hormuz a veneer of legitimacy. Smart move. But Trump has basically given Iran the equivalent of the Suez or Panama Canals.
