It doesn't exist for you to berate families who survived this kind of trauma. It takes a real a-hole to trash these families. WTF is wrong with you? |
Returning a child to the care of the Eastlands is a horrible decision. If that offends you, IDGAF. |
|
So many wrong decisions were made, and only minimal emergency measures were in place at Camp Mystic.

Criminal negligence, IMHO |
+1 |
Yeah, that's it. That's also why its all over the news nationally, including the NY Times. Just childless weirdos are reading about Camp Mystic and Kerr County. |
| The hearing presentation yesterday was balanced and also terrifying. The whole “culture of obedience” with Dick at the top was both telling and such a weird trad wife kind of thing. Let’s make sure our girls are obedient. |
It’s just like CiCi Steward said, “there were many heros that night and none of them were named Eastland.” |

From the NY Time today:
https://www.nytimes.com/2026/04/28/us/camp-mystic-texas-lawmakers-investigation.html?unlocked_article_code=1.eVA.L1P9.eIP_E8SILAoI&smid=url-share A state senator told the owners of the camp, where 28 people died, that they would no longer be allowed to operate the camp “if I can have anything to say with that.” State Senator Charles Perry told the Eastlands that the camp appeared to be “cavalier” and “nonchalant” in its approach to meeting the requirements for reopening, which resulted in multiple “deficiencies” in its planning. The family may not “have the privilege of running a business” anymore, Mr. Perry said, adding that the Eastlands would not be able to run Camp Mystic in the future “if I can have anything to say with that.” “If y’all are left as an operator in any form or fashion, what deterrent does that send to another operator that I can have kids die on my watch and still be an operator?” Mr. Perry said. This camp should never reopen. Children died because of their horrific negligence. |

I really don't know why there's a troll on here fighting with people.
This camp does not deserve to open under the same ownership, period. The owners are just trying to make money to help with their lawsuits. They're criminals who preferred to ignore safety regulations so they could keep costs down to have profit margin. They should never be trusted with children ever again, and they deserve prison time. If the camp changes ownership and makes the necessary safety changes, then it can re-open no problem. |
I don’t think it is just money that is motivating them to want to reopen. I think that they realize they are more likely to win the lawsuits if they are allowed to re-open because they can point and say look it was an act of god and we had been negligent we would not have been allowed to reopen by regulators. Disgusting. |
Who are you and why are you trying to stop people from learning about this? You clearly have some financial interest in this camp. Step off. You don't get to tell anyone else what to do. |
Reading in passing is one thing, obsessing over their safety plans when you don't even have kids is another. |
That's not what was originally said, and that poster has no clue who has kids, where they live, or if their family members attended Camp Mystic. |
