If I knew any parents or kids that are planning to go there, it would be a deal breaker for me. full stop.

Terrible. One of those little girls is still missing.

Well it’s a camp that caters exclusively to the spawn of bible beating Texas UMC maga trash, so that’s a given.

These are parents who would literally laugh about refugees drowning in the Rio Grande or Palestinian children getting shot by Israeli snipers. Should we really feel any pity at all for them? Their children will grow up and become just like them.

You sound just as hateful as the group you criticize.

While I am sure there are a contingent of MAGA types there, I don't think it's entirely like that. I know of, through friends of friends, a number of moms who are lawyers and doctors who are not MAGA who have sent their kids there in the past.

I grew up going to a camp down the road so I have some insight into the mindset. I have family members who attend Mystic. There are plenty of girls who want to go back, including those from Guadalupe 2nd term who were in the floods. It is very complicated but to put it simply - for the campers it is about being with their friends and having the camp experience. They could care less about who runs the place. I know that is the parents’ job and I know there are some who won’t allow it but others who will, especially those of the older girls. I am not going to judge.

That's nice of you, but most of us will judge parents who knowingly put their kids in known potential danger, especially so their kids can have a camp experience with their friends.

I understand. But they will not be in danger. They are not using the Guadalupe location.

+1

Cile Steward is the little girl who is still
Missing

As a parent , no way could I ever consider sending my kid to this camp.

PSA if you are sending your kid to sleep away camp this summer, ask for a copy of their emergency protocols and ask about the training they provide counselors and campers. Even if the camp is an accredited camp, ask and read and ask questions.

What if there is a fire or other issue? The camp owners have shown their lack of emergency plan or any critical thinking skills.

Isn't it a different location? The one they are opening this summer was not affected by the floods.

My guess is after last summer, Mystic will be the safest camp in the country.

It’s sounding more and more like a cult.

I doubt it. I worked in a camp that had a life threatening accident due to negligence. I was there the following summer and was horrified by the lack of safety awareness. I think people who don’t take safety seriously don’t change.

I suppose the camp could be safer. Of course, you would be crazy not to insist on some evidence of procedural changes.

So you have learned nothing. God, you're criminally stupid.
