HS Swim - Districts this weekend?

The faintest of praise, but “screwing everything up” would mean no meets at all.

Meets will be held. Swimmers will swim.

Good luck to all swimmers and divers.

Yes

That is a big change. And they would need to redo the heat sheets.

Patriot is having prelims and finals. Why would that coach send that out? It is corrected.

So they do have pool space for tomorrow?

Sorry my “grace” for FCPS ran out after COVID, Hayfield, and many other incidents. Anytime they touch anything it’s a debacle. This is another case in point in my opinion. Heck FCPS and FCPA aren’t even on the same page. And I don’t blame FCPA.

And unfortunately my employer is not so understanding of FCPS’ last minute changes for a daytime meet. Maybe yours is? Or the doctor’s office that charged me a missed appt fee for my swimmer because the cancellation was within 24hrs.

Still not understanding how different districts get to do different things - eg Liberty still proceeding with prelim/finals.

It is the wild wild west and it should not be that way. I am sorry PP, I am solidly in your corner.

It is wrong that each district is being handled differently.

The meet starts at like 10am and ends by like 4pm. There typically would not be club swim during those hours and HS usually has the 3:30pm-5:30pm slots for practice and meets on Friday evenings reserved.

I thought someone here said it was starting at 12:30? So Concorde is doing their meet right now?

Warm ups are right now for Concorde

Friday: Swimming – Timed Finals
10:00 AM Cub Run opens to the Teams
10:30 Warmups Begin (schedule below)
12:30 Meet Start
4:30 Swimmers depart

Thank you. I would not be as upset if this is what had to be done across the board. In fact, I would probably be praising them for trying to continue to get the meet done. It’s the inconsistency that has me fired up.

Yeah the inconsistency has me really irked

The coach is correct. Patriot District is now timed finals.

If you also want to add to the inequity amongst the districts there are some districts (um, National) that have a tremendous number of late night meets and I am not talking a 7 pm start - I am talking about 8:30 pm starts on their schedules and there are some districts that have teams that only have early meets.

Not trying to defend them, just trying to find the slimmest of positive news that the kids will swim. Not swimming at all would be far worse. And thankfully it's not during the day, though having the slimmest of time to confirm for today was really beyond aggravating.

I think we are owed the information on why they aren't doing prelims and finals.

National and Concorde aren’t doing prelims and finals because they made that decision mid-week. Patriot isn’t doing both because someone canceled the pool time for Saturday.
