Correct. She took the kids and fled to Japan.

My understanding is that she was in the middle of renewing her visa when he was arrested. I don’t think she had much choice but to leave once her visa expired. And honestly, I would get my kids as far away from this as possible.

Thomas Mahony wasn’t arrested in 2023. The record states that the senior prosecutor in the U.S. Attorney’s office has was not persuaded to sign the proposed arrest warrant. Just because there was an arrest warrant does not mean that an arrest was made.

I don’t think he was arrested. A arrest warrant was presented to USAO and they declined it because they didn’t believe they could prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt.

Thomas Mahony’s first (and only) arrest occurred a few weeks ago. He wasn’t arrested in 2023.

I find this so alarming. Why not prosecute the crime? Maybe more victims would have come forward, and it would have prevented the later victims from abuse.

That may be true, but if they knew of the police report, even if it didn't result in an arrest, they had a responsibility to keep him away from the kids in at least in such a highly interactive role as team photographer.
