There are far too many misogynists and we're clearly not ready for a female POTUS in America.

Please stop with this crap. Someone like Giorgia Meloni would win by a landslide in the US, that is, someone who is centrist on social issues, has charisma, and is tough on immigration and crime. Unfortunately the Dems have no one like this. It’s not a “woman” issue.

100% its actually not the candidate as much as much as what they represent - the democrats could have won the last election is they hadn't been completely asleep at the wheel about immigration - why is is so hard for the democrats to just take a reasonable but somewhat tough position on immigration?

Hmmm.... There was an unprecedented circumstance during the 2024 election cycle when the very unpopular incumbent backed out the race 3 months prior to Election Day and then the VP of that very unpopular incumbent was appointed as the nominee by the party committee as opposed to being nominated through the primary process.

Sure, the immigration issue was an effective talking point for the GOP but the much more obvious reason for the Dem's loss to a relatively weak opponent is the fallout from the incumbent's late exit from the race creating a no-win situation. Biden and his immigration policies are gone. Get over it.

When the next Obama, Clinton, or Reagan steps up, you'll quickly remember what makes for a good POTUS candidate and a successful two term POTUS is 99% about the charisma, leadership ability, and communication skills of the individual. A candidate or POTUS who takes a rigid stance on a single issue that is in conflict with what a vast majority of Americans agree with, does not have presidential leadership skills.

The vast majority of Americans want secured borders and a sensible immigration policy that limits illegal immigration while having reasonable levels of legal immigration. I am still trying to find the group of voters that would stop voting democrat if that was the democrat position on that issue. You can talk about charisma, leadership etc but if democrats don't modify their hardline positions on these losing issues then they will continue to lose.

You're confusing Joe Biden's immigration strategy or lack there of with the wishes of 99% of Dem voters and other Dem politicians. Obama and Clinton had a common sense approach to prevent the number of new immigrants from exceeding what our system can handle within a given time frame. Dems didn't know Biden was going to immediately remove all band-aid policies in place to control the flow of new arrivals and then do next to nothing for two years while presumably waiting for our pathetic Congress to take action.

Biden is long gone. Get over it. Our current president's number campaign agenda was to address the long standing immigration/border issue. By 2028, we will either have had sensible immigration reform passed through Congress or Trump will be to blame for not properly addressing his number one campaign promise. Either way, you better find another talking point to ridicule Dem policies because immigration will either be a back burner issue or it will be GOP candidates that have to answer to Trump's failures on immigration. See how that works? Welcome to politics.

Wrong. It will remain an important issue, and it’s an issue where Democratic POLITICIANS are completely at odds with the voters. Democratic politicians have NOT publicly denounced Biden’s policies and they are ACTIVELY fighting against deporting illegal immigrants. It’s a losing issue for Democrats and will be in 2028. Even if Trump wildly succeeds or wildly fails at the border, border issues are bad for Democrats. Democrats have to seize the initiative and pass e-verify legislation and have to stop trying to obstruct deportations. Or stay the course and pay the political price and lose the next few elections but FEEL they fought nobly for illegal immigrant rights.

Our party is out of touch with the voters. Reading this thread with the various possible candidates mentioned…it’s clear we’re screwed. Pritzker? Buttigieg? AOC? Beshear? I mean….screwed. The Obama divorce is going to be the final straw that utterly takes the wind out of our sails. The next party to take the White House from Republicans will have a different name.

It will remain an important issue only if Trump fails on his promise to secure the border and have appropriate immigration law reform passed through Congress. No excuse for him not to consider the power in Congress the GOP will have through 2026.

Swing voters in swing states who will determine the 2028 election will be swayed by the promise of change from another very unpopular sitting POTUS. If you can't see that as a very likely scenario, you simply haven't been paying attention.

You are the most boring poster on here! And totally out to lunch!

Democrats have been campaigning on a “Trump is bad” platform for a decade, and they are less popular than ever as a result.

Flyover state voters know that Democrats hate them and prefer illegal immigrants. They won’t forget that, no matter what happens with immigration legislation.

Almost all Demographic groups are shifting right, and so are the big donors.

Dems have no good candidates, and if they did have a good one, he wouldn’t be allowed a fair shot in the primaries.

And Dems have an unpopular set of policies that they refuse to adjust to appeal to voters.

Democrats will of course come back to power at some point. The powers that be benefit from a divide and conquer two-party system. But neither the powers that be nor the swing voters are in any hurry to get a generic Democrat in the White House over a generic Republican in 2028. It’s not gonna happen. And it’s DEFINITELY not going to happen if Democrats take your advice to do nothing, which you’ve now advised over 500 times on here!

I called Warner, Kaine and Connolly. None of them have changed their positions on immigration. All will NOT mandate e-verify and ALL want to continue to replace US workers with cheap H1B and OPTs .

It seems nothing has changed with Democrats, they think they can hide and re-emerge like moths in a few years.

Maybe but twice strong democrats have lost to an idiot like trump and largely due to immigration and other out of touch DNC. You know, hate those damn deplorables, i.e. the fools doing manual labor for the US.

They know you hate them.

Harris was a strong Democrat? She couldn't even challenge Biden, or anyone, during her candidacy.

I fear the Dems are wasting time. A few people need to be sharpening their plans, so they can demonstrate they are presidential material in the next 3 years before they start campaigning.

The primaries will be hilarious. Rahm Emanuel will play centrist, forcing Dems to admit they’ve failed to teach American kids to read. AOC will freak and try to cancel him. So will the teachers unions. Little Mayor Pete wlll pipe in. So will obese trans ally Pritzker.

Actually, thinking about this makes it clear why they didn’t allow a primary in 2024. At this point, a Democratic Party primary would embarrass the party and turn off the swing voters

I like Rahm. He is super confident, and as sharp and mean as any R, and I think that is what's needed. Beshear is too soft. Pritzker isn't attractive enough. Everybody hates Pete.

The guy from PA that just had his house burned down.

No more women or minorities (and I saw this as a woman POC). This country hates them and we can’t keep losing because we won’t face the reality of who Americans are.

Why is Shapiro totally not being mentioned? Very weird as I thought he sat out this time to run in 2028. Moderates like him!

Shapiro is a none starter. He would lose some many democrats and independents because of his support for Israel.
