The “moderates” are the reason we are here. If the Dems push the same old moderates out it shows they want the status quo.

No more hiring behind senate rules like the filibuster. Law and order need to be aggressively reestablished. Trump, his family, maga, corrupt judiciary, DOJ, etc must be punished.

As a dem, I do not support this. Enough with extremes. This county will go bipolar if we keep swinging far right and far left, it’s a terrible terrible idea. What we need is moderates on both sides.

lol you live is a fantasy world. There are no moderates on the Republican side. Disarming and throwing yourself on the none existent mercy of maga is a fools game. That is what you do when you vote for moderates. Remember how the democrats controlled the senate but were unable to even investigate SCOTUS’s corruption? That was moderates in action.

For democracy to work both sides must believe in it. The republicans do not believe in it. So go vote for Schumer, Joe Manchin, Kyrsten Sinema, etc. you will be putting the nail in your own coffin.

The moderate Biden approach failed. The country needs fighter not appeasers.

Joe lost the election because he lost his marbles, not because he is a moderate.

Yes, thank you!

Definitely no “moving on” or “letting sleeping dogs lie.” If we want to win and prevent this from happening again, we need people willing to investigate and prosecute the people in charge that are breaking the law right now. There are people that need to be charged with treason.

The person to do that is Tim Walz.

Walz would single handedly deliver the WH to the GOP.

- you sound like a scared little MAGA who is terrified of Walz.

Literally no one is terrified of Walz.

Anonymous wrote:What election? What are you all talking about?

Hundreds of posters here assured us last year there would NEVER be another election again if Trump won. Democracy would die, etc, etc.

Well Trump won. Democracy is presumably dead, as so many here promised.

I can’t understand why people are taking about 2026 and 2028 now. It flies in the face of what so many posters here professed would happen.

Can someone please explain how no one seems to remember this now, just 6 months later?
You make a good point. I encourage all democrats to go buy an assault weapon because it's gonna be civil war when the election results vastly mismatch the polls.

There are far too many misogynists and we're clearly not ready for a female POTUS in America.

Please stop with this crap. Someone like Giorgia Meloni would win by a landslide in the US, that is, someone who is centrist on social issues, has charisma, and is tough on immigration and crime. Unfortunately the Dems have no one like this. It’s not a “woman” issue.

100% its actually not the candidate as much as much as what they represent - the democrats could have won the last election is they hadn't been completely asleep at the wheel about immigration - why is is so hard for the democrats to just take a reasonable but somewhat tough position on immigration?

Hmmm.... There was an unprecedented circumstance during the 2024 election cycle when the very unpopular incumbent backed out the race 3 months prior to Election Day and then the VP of that very unpopular incumbent was appointed as the nominee by the party committee as opposed to being nominated through the primary process.

Sure, the immigration issue was an effective talking point for the GOP but the much more obvious reason for the Dem's loss to a relatively weak opponent is the fallout from the incumbent's late exit from the race creating a no-win situation. Biden and his immigration policies are gone. Get over it.

When the next Obama, Clinton, or Reagan steps up, you'll quickly remember what makes for a good POTUS candidate and a successful two term POTUS is 99% about the charisma, leadership ability, and communication skills of the individual. A candidate or POTUS who takes a rigid stance on a single issue that is in conflict with what a vast majority of Americans agree with, does not have presidential leadership skills.

The vast majority of Americans want secured borders and a sensible immigration policy that limits illegal immigration while having reasonable levels of legal immigration. I am still trying to find the group of voters that would stop voting democrat if that was the democrat position on that issue. You can talk about charisma, leadership etc but if democrats don't modify their hardline positions on these losing issues then they will continue to lose.

You're confusing Joe Biden's immigration strategy or lack there of with the wishes of 99% of Dem voters and other Dem politicians. Obama and Clinton had a common sense approach to prevent the number of new immigrants from exceeding what our system can handle within a given time frame. Dems didn't know Biden was going to immediately remove all band-aid policies in place to control the flow of new arrivals and then do next to nothing for two years while presumably waiting for our pathetic Congress to take action.

Biden is long gone. Get over it. Our current president's number campaign agenda was to address the long standing immigration/border issue. By 2028, we will either have had sensible immigration reform passed through Congress or Trump will be to blame for not properly addressing his number one campaign promise. Either way, you better find another talking point to ridicule Dem policies because immigration will either be a back burner issue or it will be GOP candidates that have to answer to Trump's failures on immigration. See how that works? Welcome to politics.

People aren’t technocrats, they are emotional. Most voters want closed borders and mass deportations. Democratic politicians are trying to thwart the voters’ wishes. They want Kilmar! This will hurt democrats at the ballot box regardless of the state of the border in 2028.

You're certainly the emotional type if you'll still be thinking be that guy from El Salvador 3 years from now.

The AJC poll I posted in the Senate thread said 10% of Trump voters would vote for him over MTG. But he may lose if Kemp runs.

+1 Exactly right

That will be tough because democrats live in states with assault weapon bans.

Yep. I wouldn’t vote for the other three you mentioned.

Needs to be someone more manly than Beto. Even AOC is more manly than him.

The donor class has switched parties. Republicans will keep the White House for at least the next three terms. The rich need Republicans to run thongs for a while to reverse some imbalances. Ambitious folks will switch parties.

Kilmar himself isn’t the issue. The issue is that Democrats kinda hate the voters and want to thwart there preferences. Democrats are sure they are right about everything. And maybe they are. But refusing to be responsive to the voters means you lose the votes

Absolutely not Whitmer or Slotkin who have spend the past few months lecturing democrats and cozying up to Trump. They're forever disqualified in my book.
