You know what’s more dangerous to the United States than climate change? The fact that the U.S. replacement rate is 2.1 children per woman but we’re hovering around 1.6 per woman. Previous studies were somewhat optimistic because of the massive influx of illegal immigrants. That mitigating factor no longer exists currently. |
How is $5,000. Which is taxable. Going to make a bit of difference,? |
That's true in Europe and parts of Asia as well. But you can't force children to reproduce. |
Wow! How gross. No one said anything about impregnating children. Good lord! |
$5k is a drop in the bucket for parents. Comical. |
NP. And yet a lot of the decrease from 2.1 to 1.6 is the incredible decrease in teen pregnancy. And once you have a baby at 16, you are likely to have a couple more young. My aunt was a “good Catholic girl” who got pregnant at 16, disowned by my grandparents because she wouldn’t go to “visit relatives” for six months and come back without the baby. Married the dad. And had 4 kids by 22. And predictably divorced. Her life was a sh*tshow. That was where the .5 kids we lost was coming from. Kids having kids. Which they now must do again in red states. |
That's if everything stays the same - people are operating under the traditional paradigm in the job realm. If we were smart we'd demand our leaders figure out how to make AI lessen everyone's workloads and legislate against firing people in favor of AI - i.e. - take a people centered approach to growth. |
Things are going to get very bad if the US doesn't attempt to solve this issue before it gets much worse. South Korea is basically going extinct and the US is next unless we change course. The US should cover IVF, egg freezing, and infertility treatments for everyone without conditions. Surrogacy should be tax deductible and 6 months of paid parental leave should be mandatory for large employers for both men and women. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Ufmu1WD2TSk |
